+1. It's a nice-looking watch but no way in hell would I pay over MSRP.

Discontinued OP41s- overrated or something special?
It depends how you look at it. If I could have gotten a yellow or tiffany dial at MSRP, I would have bought one in a heartbeat. So from that perspective, they are special to me. I wish I had one of them. I’d wear it all the time.
Would I pay more than MSRP? No, I wouldn’t. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

At MSRP these were definitely special watches. Still special, but not worth the market price.

The secondary market appears to be overly inflated with hype

I’ve never thought about buying an OP. No interest in them.

To me, there is something special about the bold colors- I don’t think it’s total hype (acknowledging it’s a simpler watch). Most other Rolexes have white, black or neutral dials. Given the short runs coupled with the unusual colors I see how a premium is justified. I would say the scale of the premium is a reflection of taste (eg how much do you like the colors).

Love the Celebration dial, and at MSRP a bargain if you can get one.

Not worth a cent over MSRP IMHO

Purchased from the AD, the OP is a great watch. Now that the colors you want are discontinued, they are a terrible value on the secondary market, at least for me.

OP can be a nice watch due mainly to its simplicity. Its Rolex in its most pure form. Rolex also made a bold (and IMO wise) decision to have a lot of fun with these watches. The demand for an OP was usually due to it being the easiest Rolex to afford and served as an entry point to the brand for many who didnt have 5 figure budgets.
Personally, I would never pay over MSRP for an OP. And for the record I'm not someone that shuns paying over retail, in fact quite the opposite, I would pay over retail for certain watches if it meant I didnt have to play AD games or wait for a year. Paying over retail for an OP seems counterintuitive though. (The one exception may be if there was some kind of limited edition collectors version, the tiffany dial sort of fits that case.) |

Picked up the OP41 Green dial this week from my AD. A beautiful watch MSRP but I won’t pay over list for any Rolex

I bought the 41 coral for 3x MSRP and would do it again. It one of the most unique watch dials I have seen them make. I feel that regardless of everyone’s opinion these watches will be sought after in the future, if not for the uniqueness for the rarity. I’m still going to get a yellow as well.

I’ve been kicking the can on the green OP 41 for several months, because I do like it and my wife has the 31 in green. Trying to hold out to see if I can get one from my AD, but all they offer me these days are precious metal pieces that I haven’t requested.

Not discontinued but I owned the green op 36 (still a stella dial). It was a very neat little watch. Loved the color. However, I did not get any "x-factor" out of it and didnt think twice when I flipped during the price hike it and bought a 5-digit bluesy instead which I fell love into.

Love the OP, but prefer the blue and green colors at MSRP. The yellow looks like it got stained with mustard and the celebration is just way too noisy for me. Good luck!

I wouldn’t pay the going rate but I’d love to get a coral OP. Saw one in person and I loved it
