Why the fuck 5227 cuts the index is beyond me. It's too short, it's too abrupt, it ruins the watch. It's a huge shame coz the lug, the dial, the officers case back are so damn beautiful, but damn the short indexes...
I prefer no date as well, if there's a date 6 o'clock position is better imo coz it's symmetrical

Fyi I sold my 85180 for a 6119. 6119 is an absolute beauty and imo the calatrava to get nowadays

For dress watch, nothing beats Laurent Ferrier Classic Micro Rotor. Under the radar, finishing way beyond Patek, natural escapement... And at 40mm, it is extremely wearable

Ultimate dress watch: Patek Calatrava or VC Patrimony?

For me, better without a date complication. More better if it didn’t have a distracting seconds hand.

The thing about a “dress” watch is one’s taste. Unless you are willing to attend an event without your phone, it is NOT a dress event. Dressy maybe, but not formal.

That hobnail is very distracting and not elegant at all imo

I would also choose Calatrava. I prefer vintage ones though.
