1972 Speedmaster Mark II. All original watch with an unpolished case. Timekeeping is approximately +4 seconds per day.

By far my favorite speedy and a fun back story as well.

I have one myself (1972 as well I believe) and in my opinion it really is a great watch. Lately I haven’t been wearing it on the original bracelet. It’s been on a custom strap.

Very nice watch! I checked the movement number on mine and 1972 appears to be the year it was made. It even still has the original crystal with melted gasket. I will probably get that replaced and get the rest of the gaskets done in the next few months so it is water resistant again.

I like the old 1162/172 bracelet though I find it's a become a bit of a lawnmower for my arm hairs.

The previous owner had the mineral crystal replaced along with the gasket for a sapphire one. The old gasket looked like it turned into tar. He kept the old mineral crystal and gave it to me in case of resale.

The melting gasket thing was common on omegas from the 70s due to the type of rubber they used. I'll be doing the same sapphire crystal swap myself, of course keeping the original, as the gasket has eaten into the screen printed text on the underside of the mineral crystal.
