Deal or no Deal?
Here is the deal on offer:
Kind of want it, but wavering versus the Air King - which is basically the same thing but funkier dial and with crown guard. They didn't offer me an Air King though, so moot point perhaps lol! The Explorer 40 has a lot of old-school charm but the dial size is definitely 2023. Men's watches have grown phenomenally over the the last 20 years. The last Air King I got 20 years ago was 34 - a regular and usual gent's size at the time. Those were the days when Rolex would still be worn in a tool-like and unobtrusive way. Nowadays, people like to see a bigger lump of metal for their money. For me I do think that 40 is optimal - but that's purely personal. |

Buy what you like. If you prefer the AirKing say no to the Explorer40 and ask for the AirKing instead. The AirKing is one of the easiest SS sport model to get so I am sure you’ll get it!

I prefer the Explorer to the AK. I know that doesn’t help.

Buy what you really like and really want. Simple as that really. Good luck

You've answered your own question. I hope your AK doesn't take much longer to turn up.

"Kind of want it"
I wish I had enough money to even consider buying an expensive item that I "Kind of want." For me, I need a watch to virtually un-live-without-able to buy it. |

Like many much prefer the explorer but if Airking is your thing then turn down the watch and wait for what you want. As others have said the Airking is not a highly demanded watch so I’m sure you would get one.

Wait for the one you really want, but either are solid choices.

AK does not do it for me, but go with your gut. Wait for the AK if that's what you want!

I prefer the new Explorer. I have not seen one in person but think it looks great in the pictures. Not fan of the AK, as much as I have tried to like it the dial looks off to me and too busy. That is the point for some but not me.

Id take the EXP any day over the Air Clown.
I hate that dial, way too busy and too many colors...

I love my Explorer 40 but I must say the dial is large for a watch with no bezel as such , it took some getting used to. Fits and wears like a dream though

Explorer 36 for me, it just works so well!!
In my case I would go for the Air King if I REALLY wanted a 40mm. I know it's an "underdog" I their catalog, but compared to everything else it is the "craziest" model and I LOVE the color combo Sent from my SM-A415F using Tapatalk |

I'd go with the Explorer. Much more attractive than the AK.

Although I have neither, I have tried both on, and prefer the Air King. Of course, that's just me. Explorer is probably more popular

I just got the latest AK after wearing my 2021 AK more than any other watch I own.
The Exlorer is class at a great price but the AK feels like a quirky Explorer. I love the green accents and it's the only Rolex with a green logo on the dial. They aren't too hard to get so talk to your AD. I got my 1st one in a week and picked up the new one this week after showing interest a day eariler. |

As part of the collection, I love the Air King.
If I could only have one, it’s the Explorer. |
