What year did Rolex start using engraved rehauts?

Would a Z serial Sub have it?

In 2005 both, between the lugs at 6:00 and the rehaut were used. In 2008 & up, only the reheat is used from what I've read.

Thanks all. I’ve got a Z serial Sub and it’s got the engraved rehaut. I was a bit worried it may not have been authentic.

It's probably noteworthy that 16710 and 16600 were never produced with engraved rehaut.

It depends on the model

From Millenary Watches, https://millenarywatches.com/rolex-engraved-rehaut/

"The time of which the engraved rehaut was introduced varies between models, as Rolex slowly but surely introduced it for all their models" [except the ones it didn't.]

The engraved rehaut was "first introduced on the Turn-o-graph around 2004". Those watches that currently have the engraved rehaut had them by 2007.

A serial number is not necessarily diagnostic for the presence or absence of an engraved rehaut. "D and F serials overlap and either could have it, just as the Z and M overlap with the rehaut on the Stainless steel models."

My WG Daytona 116509 D series from 2005 has the engraved rehaut. It was one of the first models to get it.

Hi all, this is an informative thread. I'm new to the forum, and I would appreciate some of your expert input regarding the engraved rehaut.

I'm looking at a 115200 T serial (1996?) at a reputable auction house, but the pictures show it with an engraved rehaut. My understanding is that Rolex started engraving these much later than this T serial would suggest. Any thoughts? (I haven't asked to see pics between the lugs yet). Would a rehaut ever be replaced during a service/overhaul?

None of the 16710 GMT II has the rehaut engraved. Mine is a 2007 and no engraving.
