World is your Oyster
I Was 18. First abroad job as construction worker in London. No language skills, but knew, that all the money will go for first automatic watch. Valjoux 7750. Dream movement (yeah 18yo who knows, right?) but bad manufacturer. Tissot’s PRS516 was nice, but build quality suffered.
23yo. friends having beer parties, but I knew inhouse is the way to go. PO 8500it is. Now, almost 12 years later, still insane heavy duty workhorse, no mistakes in build quality, no issues at all, travelled half the world, my sweet spot, my diving buddy, my real love. 34yo. My friend was late for a meeting, already had 3 Pilsners. Rolex boutique very close. Went in, blue shirt, jeans, tan brogues and PO on Bond NATO. Put myself on Batman “impossible” list on Oyster and forgot. Called some time later, if I have chance for CHNR at least, because all the information that BLNR is no way to get as first watch. 355 days later - 8th March - Int. Women Day call “we know, you are on list for CHNR as well, but your Your YOUR Batman is here for you, but you can still wait for CHNR if you want" FFS it is too early, they said 3-5 years. Young guy, family of watch collectors, Rolex is impossible. Doxas, Omegas, Sturmanskie, No Rolex. Boy from Iron Curtain countries.. 70yo Mom said “GMT now? You really did it?” Thanks to you Mom and Dad. Somebody here once said. If you can have one thing that will make you smile everytime you look at it, that is the way to go. All money, luck in AD, scratches on PCLs, or fake hates aside, even after 9 months of honeymoon period. First Rolex is ultimate timepiece. |

World is your Oyster
Nice story! Congratulations. You have good taste. Of all the watches I’ve owned, and subsequently sold, I think I miss that 42 mm orange bezel PO the most.

Very nice! Well done! Great story and thanks for sharing. Rolex is trying to put these pieces on the wrists of people who are going to enjoy them vs flipping. This one obviously went to the right home. It is with a person that truly appreciates the watch and is truly enjoying it! A big congrats!
