Black dial Daytona 116500ln vs 126500ln

For what it's worth my 2 cents... I've owned both.. and I have traded for the new model (full disclosure).....

The 116500 was great.. a beautiful watch truly......

The 126500 is by far and away a better watch and a classic. It is visually balanced and superior. The things that bugged my eye about the previous model have been completely satisfied..... it's the little things that make the difference. I know many won't share my opinion, but the new model is much improved.

Just my .02 cents, but the 126500 update makes the black dial look more appealing this time around and the white less appealing.

I prefer the nice hunk of ceramic as the bezel on the 116500 and larger "Panda-esq" subdials. That being said a Daytona is a Daytona I'd buy either one.

100% agree with this White old 116500 over new 126500, Black new is nicer.

Difficult to choose tbh. Didn’t like the 126 when announced but it has certain refinements compared to the previous iteration. No wrong choice.

The new one looks so much more refined up to the point that for the first time I want a Daytona

I own the 126500 black.
The fine metal rings on the sub dials and the steel bezel ring of the black make this current version very aesthetically pleasing.

The improvements may have brought a new breed of Daytona buyers as the previous version did not. I am one of those. I could never fulfill my desire of owning a Daytona previously as I felt there was something that stopped me. With these new adjustments, however incremental, have lit a fire in my belly for a PM one.

How are you going to make a thread about your new Daytona and not post a photo? Come on man; let’s see a wrist shot

A matter of personal preference and is subjective. Both are great watches and icons of the brand.

If I had to choose one it would be the 126500 because, new...
I do think the 116500 is more elegant with the slimmer lugs

Exactly. Had the same impression after trying the new series last October at my AD. They even had the Platona and I tried it, but I did not even bother asking for the price... :)

This is the same as when the new gmt blnr came out …. The owners of the old reference will hate the new one saying the original is the old bla bla bla …. But at the end the new is better in all the aspects….. same here with the new daytona its better in all aspects vs the 11 series but haters gonna hate anyway

New doesn't always mean better especially in aesthetics. If I could swap out my black 116 for the new 126 I would.... not the white.

Looks like the outer ring on the new one will no doubt take some dings. My 116500 ceramic bezel is still flawless since 2017. Otherwise, the new one is another stellar design from Rolex….

IMHO the new black looks better. As for the panda, I would say older looks better.

It sounds like you've had a positive experience with both the 116500 and 126500 models. Personal preferences and subtle improvements can make a significant difference when it comes to watches. Enjoy your new timepiece!

Prefer the 116500 to the new 126 in black.
But the new white 126 looks sharper and more refined than the white 116, to my eye.

It frequently occurs that when a new form of an existing reference comes out, many will prefer the older version but more will want the new version. Happens with almost every iteration. I own both versions of the 116 Daytona, love them. I actually wish that the sundials were all black or all silver. Not a fan of the circle which is why I bought the platinum Daytona with the same colored subdials as the dial. I could see buying the 126 black version but not the white. I prefer the bolder bezel and larger hour markers. There is not wrong choice, rather it is about personal preference.
