Explorer II 16570 Bracelet Options

I know this has been asked a good few times before, and I've found a few threads on it here and elsewhere, so I know that the 97200 Sub bracelet and the 78200 GMT bracelet will both fit the later 16570 Exp II case (i.e. SEL/no case-holes).

However, I'm really struggling to find any decent info or pictures on the quality of the fit. In other words, do either of those bracelets fit "factory good", or is there still a little play/movement or gapping anywhere? Any first-hand info (or even good quality second-hand info!) would be appreciated, as would info on the correct spring bars for the job.

The reason I ask is I've come across a late model 3186-powered 16570 in NOS condition, but I really don't want another 5 digit bracelet/clasp combo in my collection. (My 14060M is quite enough thank you very much!). If I could swap out the bracelet for a 97200 or 78200 and get a perfect fit to the case, then I'm really tempted to buy this 16570.

The 97200 fits very well, no play. Of course you can just switch out the clasp, as it fits the 78790A links well.

I use the standard 78790A bracelet much of the year but switch to the 97200 with Glidelock during the warmer months. It is great when hiking, etc.

Thanks for the confirmation - most appreciated!

There's a real difference between getting something to fit, and getting it to fit well, so it's great to know there's no play. I assume you just use the standard 16570 spring bars?

Your Exp II picture is the exact look I'm going for as well.

Yes, I used the 16570 spring bars. I bought the Glidelock 97200 second hand. It didn't have spring bars so I cannot say how those would fit.

I understand many people's wrist size does not vary throughout the day. Mine does as I exercise, or just going between hot and humid into/out of air conditioning. The Glidelock is great for allowing a comfortable fit all the time. That being said, in the cooler months, I enjoy the lightness of the original 78790A bracelet.

Good luck!

Resurrection of this to ask: wil the 97200 bracelet for the earlier 1996 T-serial 16570 with holes case?
