SF Bay Area - Watchmaker/Repair Recommendations?

Hello All,

Wondering if anyone can recommend a watchmaker/repair shop in the SF Bay Area? Preferably in the East Bay near Fremont if possible. The watch is losing time. It was already brought to Shreve in Palo Alto who kept it for a week and says there's nothing wrong with it. It's erratic and can lose from 10-30 minutes in 24 hours. It's stored on a winder and it still is losing time.

Thanks in advance.

Why not get it serviced at Rolex?

Thank you! For some reason I thought they were like a Michael Young and only serviced bracelets. I see they do everything. Campbell is not too far away!

Wanted to, but Shreve said there's nothing wrong and would not send it out.

I’ve had great service at Kerns in Burlingame. Jim Shick is great to work with

Take it to Giovanni on Post street in SF. Yelp search Rolex repair and you'll see it. I've had many pleasant experiences with him. Good luck.

I would go with RSC. The price difference is worth it for peace of mind!

Joe Escobar Diamonds in San Jose. They have a full time Rolex certified watchmaker with all the official Rolex tools and equipment. I remember them saying they are 1 of 7 stores in the US that have a full time a Rolex trained watchmaker

They can test your watch while you wait and provide a print out of the accuracy of your watch. I believe it puts the watch in 5 different different positions.

Mike and Sal worked on 4 of my watches last month and the workmanship is excellent.

Gio is amazing. And honest. Their office is 210 Post, 7th floor. A block from Shreve & Co.

Is the winder working properly? Set to the correct schedule for your watch? Not all winders are created equal.

Have you tried winding it properly and then wearing it?

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and feedback. I think we are going with Giovanni. Too bad I didn't know about him before since he was right near Shreve. There is a lot of good reviews on Gio and he is also convenient for location. Thanks to others who suggested other watchmakers. It's good to know about those too, as I might need one in the future where the location might be a factor.

Thanks again everyone!

Giovanni all day long. Lovely guy to talk with, friendly and highly competent. He knows Rolex and loves to talk about them too. I have taken many watches there to authenticate them and he does so gladly.

As an aside, I've had indifferent service at Kerns in Burlingame, they took weeks to ship my watch to the RSC (it just sat in the store apparently?), weeks to inform me when it was returned and then unapologetically presented the watch to me dirty and scratched. The watch (which was a safe queen) was returned from the RSC/Kerns scratched all over the case and band and filthy dirty, and with the glidelock jammed tight. Then to add insult to injury, when I asked for it to be returned to the RSC, Kerns went ahead and polished it instore without my permission! So my 8 month old watch, in pristine condition, came back scratched and was then badly polished. The owner told me not to worry as he had just banged his Patek off the wall a few days previously, these things happen apparently. So no, I won't buy, service, or even window shop at Kerns.
