14270 with service dial
I just purchased a 14270 that I found out has a service dial (Swiss made), but this wasn’t disclosed by the seller. What, if anything, does this do to the value of the watch? I’m seriously debating requesting a refund since this should have been disclosed. Thoughts?

Likely nothing.
From 1999 to 2001 the 14270 came with a Swiss Made dial. However, it is a recent enough model that even if it is a replaced dial, it would likely only be down to preference of dial rather than any particular value denomination.

I'd rather have a service dial than one that is damaged.

You bought a watch that was supposed to have a tritium dial but received a Luminova dial instead. If you care about that sort of thing, especially if you bought this reference for the tritium dial, then I would return it if I were you.
One more thing, if your hands are still tritium, then you will have mismatched lume once they age, if they haven’t already, which can be unattractive |

How about undamaged original dial if you're paying the full market price? They’re out there and one shouldn’t settle when spending thousands of dollars on a watch. However, if the choice is between a damaged original dial and a modern service dial for the same price? I'd opt for the damaged original dial. Of course, the price should reflect the condition accordingly

I want watches in good condition, not damaged. But you're talking to a watchmaker, not a collector. I have forced people to replace their dial because of Rolex policy, and destroyed those dials afterwards (we have to). Unless you ask for the dial to be returned of course... I have no interest in some moldy dial that some call patina, I need it to be functional and not have it lose it's old crusty lume back into the movement that I just spent hours on restoring. |

Yes, because it is your property and Rolex has no legal right to claim the dial.
But there's still some people who don't want it back, and then we have to destroy the old dial. I can appreciate an old dial with beautiful patina, but it has to be in good condition. If you want to keep it this way then stay far away from RSC. |

If you have receipts, then it is likely that the dial was changed, although again, any value loss is pretty negligible for this particular watch and would likely only be a bargaining point for a true enthusiast, but not the rest of the world.
If you are using one of the many charts around, a T, U, or A serial prefix could have carried over into the Swiss Made period.
