Info on a 1957 Rolex

Hey,
I am looking at buying a 1957 Rolex for my husband. All I know right now is that it is 1957 Diver watch. I can't seem to find any information anywhere. He is asking $2500. Is this a good deal? And where can I go to get some basic information on buying a used Rolex?
HELPP!!

Pls be careful if you are being offered a 1957 Rolex diving watch for $2500. A divers watch of that vintage would be very collectible and almost certainly worth a lot more. Some pictures would be good and or serial no. and model no.

Yeah, this is one of those "seems to be too good to be true" deals. Have a care!

Take the seller to an Authorized Dealer.. get them to verify the watch and state that it is real.. give him the money... and walk away smiling.. 2500 sounds too good..

1957 makes it a 6538.

Maybe this guy doesn't know what he has, cuz if it were a fake, he might be asking for more.
