Is Rolex Datejust 36 too small for a 7.5 inch wrist (19cm)
Hello,
I just fell in love with Datejust with black dial, fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. The question is the size. Should I go with classic 36mm if I have a 7.5 inch wrist and I am a bigger guy? I think 41mm is too big, but don't know really. Any ideas, experience, thoughts? Thanks! Btw, one of my daily watches is Oris Divers 65 and I think it's 40mm and 48mm lug-to-lug and it's perfect size. Last edited by tondakus; 27 March 2024 at 01:45 AM.. Reason: adding something |

Try both before you decide.
I didn’t like the bigger one

Definitely try both and make up your own mind - there’s no right and wrong size.

I have a 41mm fluted jubilee and found the 36 was too small. 7.25 inch wrist

Connery, Soprano, Eisenhower comments coming in in 3....2.....1.....
That said.. Yes. It's too small. 7.5's are big, hold out for a 41mm unless you really like the smaller one. |

I have a 7.5" wrist and my wife's 36mm DJ looks tiny on me.
The 41mm DJ is actually only a bit over 39mm and will fit you much better. |

Note though I like vintage watches from the 1950s, and dislike the modern trend for oversized watches. |

I have a 7.5 inch wrist and am a big guy. I have both. I will post pics. I prefer my 36 but love both. The 36 with jubilee is classy and refined. The 41 with oyster is more sporty in my opinion. They both have their place for me.

I think its fine, but its all in your personal preference. Personally seeing a wall clock sized watch on someone's wrist is much more cringeworthy

I've had both and prefer the 36 by a fair margin on my 7.25 inch wrist. If you go with the 36, you really have to wear for a week or so and give your brain time to adjust to the look. Once it does, at least for me, the 36 just seems absolute perfection.

My personal rule is fluted on a 36, smooth on a 40. A fluted 40 is too much for me. 7.25 inch wrist.

I have a small wrist, and I have 4 36mm DJ's and DD's and 4 41 mm DJ's and GMT's. I love them both but at the age of 61 its becoming easier to read the dial on the 41mm.
In the end it boils down to what you like better. Enjoy!

I'm 6'4" ~240lbs with an almost 8" wrist. I have a DJ41, but the times I've tried on a DJ36 it hasn't looked too small on me. If I ever get another DJ it may be 36mm.
And as Brian said above, my next purchase will probably be a 36mm Explorer I. |

I can’t remember ever seeing a pic of a 36 mm DJ, on anyone on this forum, where I thought it looked too small. It looks great on everyone. It’s classic, especially fluted, on Jubilee.
