Congrats! I've been thinking about one for awhile now too. I have the 116900 Air-King and feel it is different enough to own both too. After one more Panerai....a Radiomir, I'm thinking of shifting to predominently buying Tudor's because they are so readily available and (relatively) inexpensive, but also super cool.

Post plenty of pics when you get it!

Geesh..

I've seen you post this pic on a few different (relevant) threads, and I have to say, each time I see it, I love it more and more. Especially on that NATO. I'd love to have this reference and two or three different Ericka's O straps to play with it!

Tudor make some very nice old Rolex models nowadays, the main difference being they are built to modern standards and offer excellent VFM.

So…. As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to spend a few days with the Ranger before I wrote my thoughts down. Here goes….

I hated it. The 39mm was sized right, the NATO strap was done well, and I liked the color scheme. The fit and finish on the watch was excellent. The brushed finish along with the polished bezel edge looked amazing. The dial, with the snake head handset is cool and better than the usual snowflake handset. The cream color is not my favorite but as I already have a LHD Pelagos, I’ve grown to appreciate it. The dome crystal was a great touch. So, with all that, why did I hate it?

It was just, well, boring. Super boring. No charm, no quirk. The dial was one big blank space and looked too open to me. Just overall, it was bland, nothing that I would appreciate and behold every time that I glance at it to, well, tell what time it is. It was just a time telling tool.

Feeling I failed on this one, I wore it to work the next day anyway.

After a few hours on the wrist, I realized that the watch is exactly what it is, and that’s a tool watch. Glancing at it throughout the day, the dial, numbers, handset make it clear that this watch does it job and does it exceptionally well. The dome crystal distorts the edges of the dial at the right angle. The polished angle reflects the light against the more subdued brushed area. The NATO strap gives a bit of whimsey and overall, it’s a pleasure to look at. The open space on the dial allows you to quickly see the markers without clutter. All of those

The watch is simply fantastic. I have literally done a 180 on this watch. Not sure why it took a few hours on the wrist for me to appreciate it, but man I am very happy with this impulse buy. Has barely left my wrist since Monday.

Very nice write-up. Glad you’re happy with it.

I got mine 3/5 and haven’t switched watches yet, just the straps.

Thanks. The Ranger is brilliant in its simplicity.
