Subjectively, I didn't like the matte dial either. Just giving you a counterpoint to consider. Hope this helps.
It’s not about the size of the wrist but rather whether the wrist is flat. Flat wrists wear the SD43 perfectly. I can literally sleep with mine on. Rounded wrists will not enjoy the experience.

I have a flat wrist and I still didn't enjoy the experience, but I'm happy that it works for you.

I traded off the sub for a SD4K.

They were completely the same wearing experience, no different. In fact, I would say the sea dweller was slightly more diminutive than the sub owing to L2L.

Put both dials out in the daylight to try to tell the difference between
matte and gloss, no difference.

To me all Rolex are sans AR, so that doesn’t make a difference to me either.

I don't think the OP was referencing the SD4K.

Could be. But a Sea Dweller is a sea dweller, nonetheless.
The comparison was to a sub toward the end, my friend.

I hear you, I love everything about the SD except the thickness
Dial, red text, bezel all better

Really about lug length end to end. Might fit you fine. Try one!

It's definitely a great watch!

I don't have the wrists for one so I'd have to go for a 16600.

Checked Rubber B, they have black/black and black/red. Is the rubber thinner than the steel bracelet?

Same thickness as the bracelet. My SD43 rides on Rubber B full time, super secure fit resulting in less flop.

Fantastic news! You will love it! Mine is just 2 months old and far superior to my Sub in every way. Looking forward to the pics! Congrats

I had one for about a year...It's a very nice watch but it the end it just wasn't for me. So I sold it and went back to my trusty 16600...

The most beautiful diver in the line up, just doesn’t work well on my wrist which is a real shame.

OP, I hope you have a chance to experience it
A flatter case back would be great! Maybe the whole thing in grade 5 Ti ?
