Tough choice
Sub: Pros: classic, well known everywhere, wears well, looks great although I prefer a date, can be used in most occasions and holds value well, bracelet adjustments, bracelet is brushed. Cons: subs everywhere, no date, not the greatest for formal occasions. YM Blue: Pros: beautiful, wears better, blue dial is amazing, looks similar to a sub but can be used in formal or casual settings, sits closer to your wrist which would look great on the size of your wrist, unique in the wild so gives you a more exclusive feel. Cons: not as popular, bezel and bracelet are very susceptible to scratches and does to hold it's value as well at the sub. I, personally, would go YM but most here would go sub. |

My first was a 14060m. The Submariner is a great model. Go with that and you won't be disappointed.

Get the Submariner first! It´s perhaps the most classic, timeless Rolex, and goes with everything imo. You can´t go wrong with it. A Sub can be a perfect one-and-done Rolex, and will take almost anything you throw at it. You can always get a YM later if you feel the need...

Do you like the cyclops? Definitely try on both if possible.

Honestly, it doesn’t matter. Once you buy your first you are down the rabbit hole and within the first five years you will have bought several more and sold the first three you bought because your tastes have evolved.
So your first watch won’t matter because you won’t have it for long. Sit back and enjoy the ride! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have owned both and here is my take. The Sub is the Sub, kinda of the go to. However, IMHO the YM is THE most underrated Rolex there is. This watch can be dressed up and dressed down. I also thing the lugs are MUCH more in proportion with the bracelet! I really dont know how you can go wrong with the YM. Also, in the wild, if you want to be a little different, you will see FAR less YMs vs Subs.

If you haven't yet, try both of them on and choose the one that wears most comfortably. The cases are different, and the downturned lugs of the YM bugged me. Also, there are more micro adjustments available with the Sub glide lock, as opposed to the "easy link" of the YM, and it's easy to dial in the perfect fit. I've owned both and still have the Sub.

For the first, it's hard to beat a sub.
