Is this ‘the call’?

Hi, my AD just called yesterday saying that he expects a delivery over the next few days and that we should book an appointment for next week. He didn’t specifically mention however that the model I requested would be coming. Does this mean ‘I got the call?’ I thought calls are usually received on the day clearly saying that ‘we got your model and it is ready for pick up’. Have no experience with this hence why I’m asking.

(I have to mention that he also suggested we book in a follow up meeting-via email but, this time he called straight away so I hope this is good news?)

OP 36mm Silver Dial, London. Thanks!

I would expect this to have been (a toned-down version of) the call indeed! SA won't need you to go over new stock...
Cheers

I would bet it’s the call. They wouldn’t be calling you to waste your time or theirs, especially with the demand the way it is.

Got a call like this once. Went in and they did not have my preferred model, but did have some other interesting models available. Ended up not getting it though.

Ever so often I receive this type of call from one of my ADs. It's not the model that I want but rather a different model to see if I am interested. I bought a DSSD JC after I received such a call. Although the DSSD was not one on my list, it is a gorgeous watch. However, I had buyers remorse since it was not one of my original choices. In the end, I was able to trade the DSSD and get the watch I originally requested from another AD. Always have a Plan B. Fingers crossed that you get the watch you requested.

I once came to the AD I don't visit very often to just say hello. When I entered the store my sales rep told me to go to the private room and wait. I was surprised but obliged. He showed up in about 5 minutes with a tray and I was super pumped that he got me a mint green DJ I asked him for. Imagine my surprise when he revealed a yellow gold Daytona on OF. At that point I realized that he just confused me with someone else but decided to play along. :D
After examining and trying the watch on, I told him that I am probably not the customer he is waiting for. His facial expressions were priceless.
Probably just should have try the watch and see what happens)

In your case it is pretty safe bet that AD knows what are you after. Keep us posted tho!

I’d bet it was “the call”, because your request for an OP 36 silver is probably not one, where they would try to sell you something else, instead. So, Congrats! You will love it, as I do mine, which I’m wearing this week. This morning’s WRUW pic:

Hi all, thanks for the replies. Maybe it is good news. I found it quite strange as I asked my AD about two weeks ago about the waiting time. He said that he cannot provide such an estimate and then a few weeks later he calls me about this delivery. Hopefully I’m just lucky? I will let you know on Monday anyway :) thanks again for all the answers!

It's either "the call"
Or it's "the spin"

That is, a diamond DJ.

When I got my most coveted (grail) watch, the AD just called to say “please stop in when you get a chance”. I booked a flight the next day.

Yes, you got the call.

Thanks everyone for all the replies, hopefully it’s good news. What I found a bit strange is that two weeks ago I asked about the waiting times and he said that he can’t provide any estimations and then all of a sudden he calls me - you would understand why I’d be a bit hesitant in thinking that this was ‘the call’ :D

Sorry but I'm betting you didn't get "the call".

It's more of "we have some tough sellers coming in and we want to pressure you into buying one while we string you along about the watch you really want."

Having said that, I hope I'm wrong and they have your watch.

Early congrats to your next diamond TT DJ. You probably won't get to pick YG or RG. Just be prepared to like either

I hope this is “the call” for you and trick to get you to bite on a less desirable and more expensive model.
Good luck!

They would not play that game on someone waiting for an OP. It’s just arriving sooner than he, and maybe even the AD expected. He DID get the call!

Wouldn’t want to sound desperate. And I am not, was prepared for a very long wait :D

OP 36mm Silver Dial, London. Thanks!
I had a similar call from my AD, very non-commital, just "pop in please"

Went in, ran through some things I was wanting, had a coffee, then about 15mins later he bought out the VTNR, which he proceeded to tell me was mine, no less than 3 months after it launched

Perhaps asking him would have made sense.
This is getting a bit silly….we are talking about a jewelry store here!
Something like “sounds good, what are you expecting”, would have been appropriate
