ROTFL. I do like a huge sweeping generalisation. Rolex clearly didn’t have a clue what they were doing for 50+ years when 36mm was the only option.

For small men, I think 36 is fine.
For those average size or above, 41 is a better shout.

I’m heavier build and go for 40-42mm, my wife who is small wears a 40mm GMT

36mm definitely has its place as a unisex watch.

I can understand not liking a size on one’s own wrist. I have a harder time understanding not liking a watch size on another man’s wrist. I feel like I don’t have any say in what others like and am simply happy to see a fine watch being worn.

IMHO, this (smooth bezel, oyster) is the best combo for the motif dials, because the dial gets to be the star of the show, with fluted/jubilee being too busy for me when combined with the motif.

I agree with this. That dial, in any color, is too busy, when paired with Jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel. I’d buy that watch, if I were you.

Depends on your wrist size. I find 36mm too small on my wrist. In 41mm I'd be a taker.

More accurately, Blue Fluted dial. Not sure why people call the Fluted dial "motif" dial. Technically the jubilee, celebration, palm and many other dials are "motif" dials.
