FXD owners: suffer from WPS?

It took me a few weeks to figure out why I get to work every day with a wet spot on my left pant.

Am I losing continence?
Does my door seal leak on my car?

Turns out, my NATO strap is wet from the morning shower and my pants absorb a few ml of water. I wonder what my co-workers think it is!

FXD WPS (Wet Pant Syndrome)

Just another example of the many reasons to not shower with your watch on

Couple of things

Surely that strap does not hold all that water?
Does the strap smell?
Why don't you towel dry it before leaving and why is your steering wheel on the wrong side?!

Ha! Steering wheel.... why can't we standardize world-wide? Imagine the savings.

I boil the strap every week or so. No odor!

From a fellow FXD owner here. What is the best way to clean straps? And how often? I work in an office environment so I am not outside much during the workday. I like the Tudor default strap, but I am afraid to get it too dirty so I bought aftermarket straps.

If you boil the strap for just a few minutes, it'll remove any odor. Or, just throw it in the washing machine with your clothes. Over other week seems to do the trick for me.

I can see no reason to wear any of my watches in the shower, never have. Not because I fear for the watches at all, just seems unnecessary and then I'm left wearing a wet watch until it dries out. Even worse on a fabric strap.

As for cleaning straps, I just toss mine in the washing machine every now and then. Usually buckle it up in hopes that the buckle tang doesn't catch anything else. Then I just let them air dry. Works great for a variety of nylon straps I've tried it with. Haven't washed the OEM strap before though.

Same deal for the default rubber blue FXD strap?

Just no. Wear it 23.5 hours a day and give it a break when you shower.

I shower wearing my bracelet watches and wash them with soap and water while doing so. I do not shower with watches on straps.

Why would anyone wear a fabric strap in the shower? I always wear my rubber or metal strap watches in the shower, they’re water-resistant for hundreds of feet for pete’s sake, they are useful there for their intended purpose of keeping an eye on the time, and they get cleaned at the same time.

Good point.

But, due to internet strangers lambasting me about wearing my 200M dive watch in the shower, I took it off today, and then forgot to wear a watch to work.

I don't think anyone is lambasting you for wearing a 200m dive watch in the shower but for wearing a fabric strap in the shower and then complaining that it stays wet afterwards. Like yeah, that'll happen.

If you really like wearing your watch in the shower though, maybe just get two of your preferred daily straps for it? Shower with it on and then when done swap to the dry strap and let the wet one sit and dry out for the day? Rinse and repeat tomorrow with the now dry strap you removed today.

As much as I love my FXD, I do take it off in the shower.

The thought of walking around with a wet strap all day- until it dries, of course- just doesn't sit well with me. But hey, different strokes and all that.

Has anyone attempted to clean the blue rubber strap? Wasn't sure if there were any special precautions to be made with the blue rubber strap.
