I don't think that's a good trade.

Depends….would you be left with the GMT as an only watch? Or is there more left in the collection?

It’s all personal preference. If you want the BLNR, then go for it.

Personally, I think the 16710 is one of the best Rolex watches ever. I wouldn’t even trade that individually for a BLNR. Just my 0.02

Definitely not! You have two superb watches which in my opinion are worth more than a simple 126710 BLRO.
This is just my opinion.

OP is there any update? I think if you get some money back it would work. I still think you should try to go to an AD that sells certified Rolex. Get what you paid for your watches and get a brand new BLNR, with probably money back.

it's a trade off between the charm of vintage watches and the appeal of a newer, upgraded model. Both choices can be valid depending on what aspects of watch collecting matter most to you.

I would never trade a 16710 for the new 126710 or the older 116710. The older one with the aluminum bezels are so versatile.

Update

Update - this post did a lot of good. I think the issue here, as someone pointed out, is that they are offering me retail prices minus retailer margins for my watches and gray dealer price on the blnr. I would like to have the blnr, but I’m holding on to these ones for a while…

Great! I have both of the watches in your pic, no way I'd trade those two for a BLNR unless you were going for a one and done and wanted a more modern GMT - personally, I'd add the Batman if you really want it.

Those are clean watches - good choice. Go to an AD, tell them what you were going to do, bring them with you, but tell them you want to add instead. They will reward you for that. Talk to the owner if possible.

Not for a BLNR especially on jubilee.

I wouldn't do the trade.

You did good on trading one instead of both.

Congrats!

No, bad deal, and you'd regret it.

Last year I traded my little worn 1999 submariner against a day date. man do I regret it now.

depends serial on 16710 and on how complete it is and if it was sold in US or Europe to denote true bezel

2 for 1 can work if you are making a huge step forwards in quality or maybe stepping up to a gold piece and trading in 2 steel.

But in this instance, I think you made a great call keeping those 2 watches. Both are in lovely condition.
