How to register my new Rolex?
My AD told me when I got my Rolex that I can register it with Rolex and they keep a record. If it is ever stolen, and somehow it got sent to Rolex for any work done, they will confiscate it and return it to its rightful owner.
I just checked Rolex official site, I don't see any link to register your watch. Any ideas or leads? Thanks! |

it is my belief rolex do not register/hold new watch purchase details on individuals, however they do hold details of reported stolen pieces

The link I posted was http://www.watchsearcher.com
I's my understanding that it's a third party which has liaison with watch manufacturers, not a Rolex owned site. To register a Rolex with Rolex, I'd think this would be something the AD would do.

Maybe we should ask for that website to be made into a sticky?

I think when RSC services the watch, the person sending would be noted as the current owner.

I also am not aware of any way to register your Rolex. The paperwork in the past, and now the credit card style (paperwork) is the form of proof that you were/are the original buyer of the Rolex for the Rolex two year warrantee only. Other than that Rolex (to my understanding) does not register their watches. Some of the ADs I have worked with keep files on who has which Rolex ect. I would go to the source where you acquired your watch if any issues arise. It is rumored that Rolex sells around 800,000 watches a year if this is true can you imagine that staff it would take to document 800,000 names and addresses each year? What about address changes, keeping up with who still owned their Rolexes who flipped what. In my view a massive head ach Rolex does not need.

I kind of "registered" my new SD with Rolex about 2 months after I purchased it. My Oyster-band had a defective pin between a pair of links. I had never really noticed it until I really started looking at the watch a few months into ownership.
To make a long story short, instead of going to my AD with the problem, I went directly to the Rolex Canada office which resides in my city. As the watch is brand new and in the early stages of the warrantee, I presented the watch to the Rolex service girl as well as the warrantee papers which had my name, address, and the AD's address stamped on the papers. She took the warrantee papers from me, made a photo-copy for their files and then entered the data into their computer system right in front of me verifying my name, address, etc. I kind of registered my watch with Rolex by way of default as I had to submit it for servicing. I'm assuming had I taken the watch to them outside of the warrantee period, they would no longer need the warrantee papers, hence, I do not believe they'd register the watch, only my address and contact info to get a hold of me once the work was done. If Rolex does keep any official records of who owns one of their watches, I figure they'd only keep the records of the first original buyer of the watch. To those who purchase 2nd hand, out of warrantee, or grey market, I don't think Rolex really cares. |

I don't think I'd want my serial number out on the web. Doesn't your watch automatically go into Rolex's database when you buy it anyway?

When you buy the watch, the AD won't do anything for you with regards to registering it. The only thing they'll do is stamp the warrantee card with their name and address. |

When I visted the RSC earlier in the week they told me that they would set up a data file for my watch that would record any servicing/warranty work etc along with my details.

Rolex does not have a registry for owners to register their watches.

How to register my new Rolex?
Rolex has a registry if your watch gets stolen, you report that after the fact.
But as the above post said, not for new owners. [edit: that is, unless a new owner has a burglary/robbery] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Any registering of your watch will be via your AD, it is strange that in a society where we are asked to register our purchases for extended warranties, freebies or other such stuff Rolex doesn’t actually ask you to register your purchase. Your AD has your details, Rolex are not interested in who has their watches, they know that watch ABC123D went to X country, they know which company received that watch and when you handed over the readies the store told Rolex it was sold, but not who bought it. If you are unfortunate to have anything mechanical go wrong with the watch in the next 5 years get in touch with your AD and get the watch looked at free of charge. After that you pay. Congrats on the new watch, get out there and enjoy wearing it.

Rolex would be smart not to enter the watch ownership registration business
Imagine the mess of people buying and registering their watches then selling them and forgetting to update the registry. Or fraudulent attempts to have watches registered for nefarious purposes. No upside for Rolex to do this but plenty of downside

How to register my new Rolex?
Each AD has a special iPhone connected to a Rolex App that notes the exact watch purchase date, so the warranty period can be activated. Rolex knows which AD sold and activated the watch’s warranty, but not necessarily the original customer’s name. However, this info that Rolex does get could be traced back to the AD, who theoretically, could connect the watch to the original owner. Understandably, It is the owner’s responsibility to save documents, including warranty card, and original receipt, to prove ownership, should that become necessary.
