Exactly. Need to adjust for seasonality. Consumers broke after the Holidays, New Year(s), SIHH/Basel, Tax season.

Also the black dial version seems to be going for a $1K cheaper than the the white dial version.

I'm kind of surprised that there isn't a bigger spread between them, but maybe that's my personal bias preferring the white dial. It's going to be interesting to see what Basel has in store, and if the next big thing turns some of the attention away from the Daytona.

I think many people prefer the black dial in non-ceramic.

Crazy now the pricing is double retail at best! I wonder in 8 years time if these watches will still be worth it!

(But for the 126500LN in the UK the spread is wider: about £1.5-2k currently - in the UK. $1.29:£1). |

Holy old thread….. In time history has shown almost every Rolex will seem like a good deal if you keep it long enough.
Moral of the story is buy to wear long term and don’t worry about the entry cost of ownership.

Interesting to see this thread revived.
All that Covid stimulus money had to go somewhere since our fiat currency had been debased, hence the inflation of everything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This usually happens (price drop) over time after the new reference comes out. Not denying market trends but also wanted to mention this.

I see this and thought where would you get a 116500 for $16500 , then realised it was 7 yrs old , I still have a pair off 116500 from 2016 and they was £8250 each .

Oh man took me way too long to realize this is a very old thread. I thought I'm going crazy because I'm sure they are still up at $24k for black dial this week.

Is OP still around? Would love to see this updated with current pricing / trends.

I'm not surprised the prior model's general resale price is dropping a bit. The same type of client that was given an opportunity to buy a Daytona from their AD with the last model is the same type of person that has access to buy the new model. If you had the old model and could now buy the new model at MSRP, I completely understand that you could easily dump the old model to your local gray market reseller for a sweet little profit, even though it might not be what it was a year or two ago. No big problem.
I got a Daytona from my AD a few years ago and got the newest model just recently. I'm going to keep both because that's how I roll with watches, but I understand why getting one model and another as an update could trigger letting the old one go to the reselling market.
