I don’t agree. I think all successful businesses care and listen to what customers want. That’s largely (no pun) how we got larger watches from Rolex in the first place.

Fair point on the Sub, but the 41mm came out a full 4 years ago and I have to assume the decision to move up a 1mm came at least 2 or 3 years before that so let’s say around 2017, which was still very much in the large watch environment.

The Daytona is still 40mm. I agree it wears slightly bigger but that’s mostly due the symmetrical lugs, and I think symmetries was largely the motivating factor, less so increasing its size.

More and more people are saying modern Rolex sport watches are too big so I dont think they are on a path to size up all sport models. They’ll have some sizes for everyone. I just don’t see a larger GMT.

You are absolutely right about the dimensions they are perfect BUT I wouldn't worry too much about Rolex changing them. My 116610 Submariner is listed as a 40mm but when I measure the case I get 40.6mm and the very thick lugs make it wear much larger than the new 126610 model which is a 41mm. I don't have the new model to measure but my guess is its less than 0.5mm larger with much slimmer lugs - so it actually wears smaller!

I would not get sidetracked into a watch that was not what I wanted even though it is a nice watch. Money is what drives a lot of decision and we must each live with the reality of how much we have and what we can pay and are willing to pay. I read a lot of threads where people will not pay more than retail and that is great for them. Willing to wait or forgo a watch if they can not get what they want at the right price. Once again that is fine for them but for me I am going to buy the watches I want, when I want, within reason of course, and enjoy them. Paying over retail for a watch does not slow me down as long as I am paying market value. Many will say what happens if the value goes down, then it goes down. If I really like the watch and enjoy wearing it and am not going to sell it what does it matter? Get the watch you want, you will not be sorry.

Bingo. Could not agree more. I realize some have specific feelings about price point, ADs, and more. However, I won’t settle. I won’t convince myself that pursuing an alternate watch will scratch the itch, again….

I’ve done that before. Settled. I always end up going back and getting what I originally set my sights on. Anything else is just a delay, distraction, and potentially a waste of money. Market price works for me.

I have several Rolex purchases from my AD, including PM; but he’s told me he cannot get me a BLRO. Perhaps that will change, but that’s the status now.

Different strokes for different folks. Good luck with the hunt, OP. Also, I doubt a size increase is coming. Don’t worry about that.

I’ve always regretted settling and ultimately cost me far more $ and time than if I had just bit the proverbial bullet and bought my first choice.

Recently got my Daytona from a grey dealer and couldn’t be happier.

This from someone who was never a Daytona fan but am now a happy convert. Always discovering subtle new nuances and details about the watch that make me love it even more.
