Jewelers Mutual Covering Insurance While Shpping Your Watch

Hello,

Not sure if you all knew but if you have a jewelers mutual policy on your timepiece and you need to ship it for repair , not through a claim with jw, just on your own where you will pay out of pocket for the repairs, jw covers your watch in transit so you don’t need any addl coverage through Secursus, just food for thought if you all didn’t know this information.

Yes, I sent mine in for service last year and JM also paid the shipping both ways. Mine was a claim. I went to set the time and the stem came out. I notified JM and they set up the claim.

They will also cover it in transit if you sell it.

I used JM for years before I switched over to Hodinkee. The process of having to get an appraisal for each watch was daunting for me. I trade a lot and it was always difficult with timing and lag for insurance. I also hit a number for JM where they would not write anymore. I have not had that problem with Hodinkee. I have also never had a claim so I can not speak to either for claims service.

I had 4 Rolex watches so 135 appraisal for each watch and that was years ago was steep....I bought a 900 plus pound safe I keep in the garage its attached to the building they wont let you go into the cement floor....since the Jeep is in front of It all the time and we have 24 hour access to the condo gates....if they want it that bad take it I dont see how without setting alarm on jeep off and one the access pad beeps telling you its open.....I keep all important stuff in it and its fire proof for 2 hours.....
