Greg:

Chin up ! Watches (material things) come and go. You have your health (plus an impressive family). My experience with watches has been that as soon as the "wow" factor wears off, I'm pretty much back to wanting another and wondering if I made the right purchase on my current one (pretty shallow if you are wondering;;;;;;;special note: this is my personal opinion) .

The remodeling to your home will probably add value to it over the long haul (if it hasn't already) , even faster than owning a Rolex and if it doesn't , your family will enjoy the home much more due to the improvements, which is what the household bread winner is supposed to do (family before self).

I think you are a stud for doing what you did.

Thanks, Paul!

The first guy has a history of 'downer - posts' - I even received some nasty PM's from him in the past, contents of which I'd rather not even mention. The second one was just chiming in, but he seems like an OK guy from his other posts.

The rest of you guys/gals are, without a doubt, THE BEST GROUP OF FOLKS ONLINE (or offline, for that matter! )

Only 2 bad responses????????

Damn I'm losing my touch...

Greg you're a git. You should have given me that gold GMT so I could have sold it to pay for cheap, nasty ugly women, Elephant beer, a transexual dwarf and draino spiked drugs.

Plus I'd have gotten a tattoo of a winged skull on my face!

Is that nasty enough?

Jimbo, you ARE losing your touch! Bitsy of the recent past would mention what sort of VD he would receive from the said 'nasty, ugly women' and the detailed consistency/color of the consequential discharge. Buddy boy - do we need to visit 'insensitivity training' classes again?!

Greg you are a good man , you will bounce back off this situation, family is so much more important than a sleu of watches, i tell my kids all the time and my wife how fortunate we are to have what we have , i came from humble beginnings just like you, went to law school and opened up my own practice 10 years ago.

I do bankruptcy law and to hear every single day the way people are losing or on the verge of losing thier home or possesions breaks my heart every night when i come home.

Hang in there man , it's going to get ugly before it gets pretty, just hang in there.

Material things are temporary. Of all I own, nearly all of it is movable, if need be. The bits that aren't?

A century-old penknife that was my great-great-grandfather's. I swore to my grandfather it would stay in the family.
My wedding ring. It may be simple silver, but it means the world.
Last, my Masonic ring. Base ring was my father's, inlaid into the sides are lapel pins from my grandfather and great-grandfather.

Those pieces stay. The rest can go- it all pales in comparison.

chin up dude. It gets better (I just submitted my ERAS yesterday). It's an investment.

And Mosco, i admire you for what you did for your family. Definitely the right choice.

Hey, watch it, buddy - they like to be called 'vertically challenged' this week!

And TRAY??!? What a tolerance... Mere sight of that would give me an unwanted buzz...

Crap.... did I just assist in hi-jacking my own thread?!? Mosco -

Hmm, think you need to get your priorities straight. Family over your watch collection? What is this world coming to...

Greg, everyone has said it here so much more eligintly-... so much more eliquantli-... more eluqintl-... so much better than I can, but a couple points.

A. You WILL get your Rolex(s) back... we all go through tough times but you'll be back with a vengence my friend!

B. You ARE making the right decisions, for all our longing, a watch is a watch, family and well-being must come first, and

C. It's the character of the person that makes the watch, NOT the other way around. You're a good man, Timex or Rolex on your wrist nothing is going to change that.

Yes, once again I had to sell a 024. And unfortunately I ended up not needing to sell it after all (realized that after the fact) as the reason for the sale kind of fell through.

It hurt to sell it but at the time it seemed like the right decision. I do miss it but after having it twice, I think I will be looking at something else and soon. Just can't make up my mind (as usual )
