Look what was on my Orchid!
I have a few small Orchids, this particular plant is a Laeliocattleya. It is about 15 inches tall at most. This little Green Anole must be very young! He was about 2 inches long and the photo was taken with my macro mode on my DSLR camera.
I was so amazed, because I have never seen an Anole this small. We have males, females and juveniles all the time on the Orchids.....just never this small! Just though I would share! |

I have a bunch of those in my backyard, they are pretty neat (and they eat bugs! Yay!). They sometimes blow out their throats like a red balloon.
I haven't seen one that small though.

Kaya, do you raise orchids as a hobby? How many do you have and what types of orchids are you cultivating? As for small lizards up here in Chicago area you only see them in pet stores!!!

I have a few laeliocats and an oncidium. I used to raise draculas and masdevalias in a terrarium, but that was a lot of work. So now I just have a few outside, nothing fancy. I do great with orchids, but I don't have the time.
Here is a bella and a cordobae that I raised... |

As a kid, growing up in Savannah, I used to catch anoles all of the time. They were so cool. I love how they change from green to brown depending on their environment. It was because of those little guys that I started volunteering in a herpetology lab whilst in high school.

Well, I'm no Richard Attenborough but I did manage to catch this guy blowing out his red balloon. It's a little blurry, he wouldn't hold still, lol.

My little fiend was back this morning. These are non macro photos so you can see how small he really is. I haven't ever seen an anole this little. He must have hatched this week.

Thanks! I have a fondness for all creatures, but I am especially attached to my bearded dragons.
I actually have 7 dogs, 3 cats, 5 sugar gliders, 2 hedgehogs and 2 bearded dragons. I rescue everything and I used to rehab wildlife. So I love all critters and enjoy making a nice home for them. Here is Diablo |

Great pics. I saw my first one ever while at Disney a few weeks ago. I was amazed at the red throat balloon. We don't have those running wild in New England.
