Off to Arizona on Sept 6 !!
Well, in just a few days I'll be getting on the silver bird and flying to Phoenix to see my cousins in Gilbert AZ. Never been to that particular part of AZ before, should be fun. In fact, I haven't even started packing yet lol I'll probably start the night before like I always do before a long trip
I'll be staying there a week, and hate to admit it but this is the first time flying (with several layovers I might add) by myself. I'm bringing my laptop, IPhone with many movies preloaded on it, etc. so I should keep myself entertained. If my flights don't change between now and the time I take off, I should be arriving in AZ around 8:15PM after leaving CT @ 3:30PM. Should be a fun visit. Any recommendations on how to spend my week ? My cousin said to bring only shorts, as it's been well above 100* all week |

Hi Mike!!
He's right about the +100F, but every restaurant and store/mall is pretty chilly, so bring a sweater just for that. Gilbert... not much excitement there I don't think, but it's not too far from Scottsdale! Lots of excitement there!! I have a tourist's guide laying around, pm me with your cousins address if you want it, I'll post it tomorrow!

Thanks for the wishes everyone !
I leave at 3:20PM, and it's 12AM so I have to get some sleep, then start packing ! Oh, and just as a quick FYI, if you have an IPhone, download the APP called "Airport Maps". It's like $2.99, but it tells you the layouts of 50 major US airports, and many major airports in Canada as well so you don't have to wonder how to get to your next gate. I fly about 2 times a year so for me I found this app. very useful, since I don't have all the airports memorised how to get around in them. Heck, a lot of them are so big they could probably qualify for thier own zip codes lol It also tells you what restaurants/shops are at that specific airport as well. Very useful. Alright, well, I'll probably post again late Sunday PM when I reach Phoenix. See ya for now Mike |

I go to Gilbert quite often because my mom lives there. And I also have brother who lives in Avondale, AZ which id 25 min. from Pheonix. There is nothing in Gilbert and it is hot. Scottsdale is pretty but you'll get bored after a day or two. Sedona is a good place to drive for a day. Also, there is Flagstaff and you're only 2 hours away from Tucson, you might as well check it out. If you decide to play golf, make sure that you tee off no later than 6:00 am or you will not finish 18 holes. Did I say it's HOT there? Lots of Indian Casino.
Have fun!!! PS Say hello to my mom.

Im from AZ....and yes it hot but when I was there a week ago it hit 114 that day....a record but IMHO it does not feel that bad....here in Texas 96 degrees and 60 percent humidity sucks the life right of you.
Im trying to sell house in TX and move back right now..... Gilbert is a second Mesa ......lots of LDS living there. The Temple in Mesa is good place to sight see.....and no im not LDS ....but know lots who are..... Goto to Sedona and the Canyon if you get a chance Im getting home sick thinking about AZ again...I feel like fish out of water living in Texas...its not for me...I REALLY miss AZ |
