Patek - Vacheron - Breguet
When looking at super high end chronographs with a link to the past we have to look at the Lemania based chronographs.
Yes Lange makes super Chronographs but for some reason they just look too modern and too clean to me. Yes, A super finished Lemania is th more beautiful to me. We all know the Patek 5004 and 5970 which both used that movement, but when looking at a pure Chronograph only we have to look at the Patek 5070. Now that is a great watch but also Vacheron and Breguet used the same calibre for their manual wind chronograph. Which one of the 3 do you like the most. Which is the most perfect classic chrono and please DON'T VOTE FOR THE MOST EXPENSIVE, TAKE THE MOST BEAUTIFULL Vacheron Breguet Patek

Vacheron - because I’m bias to this particular model …
The PP is too big for my wrist. The Breguet is nice but I find the dial less elegant, and I’m not big fan of Breguet case.

The Breguet is top of my short list at the moment. It’s one of the most beautiful watches ever made in my opinion. Just pure class.
Not that the others arent pure class as well can’t go wrong of course.

I genuinely think the Roger Dubuis Hommage H40 is the best looking chronograph with a lemania movement.

Personally I think the Cornes De Vache is the best looking chrono out there. The watch is absolutely perfect in every way IMHO. Here is mine in platinum….

If I was going VC agree with Ken it would certainly be the CDV.
With that said I think that breguet is essentially perfect. I do not like the 5070 series at all.

Of the three in the first post, the Breguet is clearly the nicest looking, IMHO.
Throw Ken’s VC into the mix and I’d have a harder time choosing. |

I am a fan of VC, but of these three that Brequet is a clear winner (to me).

Brilliant! I'm starting the hunt for its steel counterpart.

That’s such an unfair fight - the CdV is one of the most beautiful watches anywhere, at any price.

There are quite a few configurations (some are monopusher) and from time to time, 1 will pop up at auction or at ACM. I like the 1st one below (pink gold case and black dial) and will put a bid when 1 becomes available.

Such a gorgeous watch, but just like the Patek I find the bezel too thick, undermining the dial.

Breguet for me in this scenario. But personally I’d go 5170 or CdV in this arena.

5170 does not have a Lemania-based movement

That platinum VC is very nice!
The white dialed 5070 is my favorite of the bunch if you are ok w the 42mm. I am not. Breguet is also very nice but a bit more ornate and maybe a bit less versatile than the others.

100% agree.... this.
Super rare, amazing watchmaking, you won't see every punter and footballer have one at a GTG.

A wrist pic of the salmon that hopefully shows the guilloche better. At six in the dial (2nd pic below), between the words Swiss and Made, ‘GQHM’ stands for ‘Geneva Quality Hall Mark’.

The dubuis is indeed also a great one ... But would you still buy it ?
It's so hyped and so expensive, probably not as bad as 2 years ago but definitely stil too expensive after sites like A collected man pushed them. 10-15 years ago you could find these for 15K and nobody wanted them today it's 55 - 65 I believe? Yes the Patek is in the same range but it always has been expensive. When a watch get's 6 times more expensive in 10-15 years it would give me a bad feeling paying this much today ... The Vacheron and Breguet are 25-30K which is imo still a fantastic price for what you get. In other words .... the Vacheron AND the Breguet or the Roger Dubuis ?

But your initial post said don't vote for most expensive (hence I thought this thread is not about value), and go for the most beautiful instead. I'm just posting what's in my view the most beautiful chronograph with a Lemania movement. This is not saying the other chronographs above are not beautiful though. I do agree some Lemania are finished like artisanal watches at the Y bridge.
Objectively OP, which chronograph with Lemania is most beautiful to you? Would be interested to know your vote. |

The last one is to die for but unfortunately almost impossible to find. I’ll make a post of that one within a month or so. The vacheron is lovely but I would doubt because of the size, the first edition is rather small for my wrist, the later has a better size but for the looks the first is imo nicer The dubuis is gorgeous indeed but I have missed that boat and don’t want to run after it.
