The vacheron is lovely but I would doubt because of the size, the first edition is rather small for my wrist, the later has a better size but for the looks the first is imo nicer

Imo the ULTIMATE chronograph but almost impossible to find and in another category since it's a split second and not a simple chronograph














Correct me if I'm wrong but not Patek, not Vacheron and also not Dubuis made a split second chronograph with the Lemania.
Well Patek did with the 5004 but thats also with a perpetual calendar.

Just Chrono split second is I believe only done by Breguet ... And I wouldn't be surprised if they made only a few dozen both the references together.
Would really be surprised if the total production number of these surpassed 100 pieces.

I'm only aware of the 3947. There could be pocket watches too but I'm not sure.

5947 is the one with the button for the split second in the crown ( much nicer )
And I believe 1 mm bigger.
38mm for the 3947 and 39mm for the 5947

For the rest exactly the same

Interesting, as you just kinda eliminated the PP Aqua and Naut. Years ago they were not as strong a seller as today, my wife's 5066(5064?) or some such was only $10k or so still sealed/as new, my matching 5167 was $17.5, and I remember when the Naut was like $10k used... and that's back when PP's Naut bracelet used screws.

PP, RD, Rolex, AP... prices have been all over the map in recent years and whatever was historic norms and price moments got obliterated / volitile. Imho forget the price, look at the value of craftsmanship, the certifications, and whatever else YOU feel is the style and quality of holorogy you desire.


Heck, I remember when there was little demand for FPJ. Rolex Hulks were just languishing in AD case.... Now there are new kids who know nearly nothing and only buying for the nameplate. Bragging rights as it were. Rapper 2Chainz bought two PP Nauts just so he could change the dial on one to blue or some such (the dial color game).

And that’s why I would not buy an aquanaut or nautilus second hand 😁 way too expensive. New at list it’s still acceptable however expensive
The cubitus at list is imo already too expensive, at euro 42k there are much better options

Back to the Roger Dubuis…. It is gorgeous but at 60k it’s imo too much compared to the vacheron or breguet
Finishing is at the same level.
Case of the Breguet is better made and imo the dial is better too…. Hand guilloché is such a breguet thing 😁

Great points, and agree about not wanting to chase the RD highs (or any highs for that matter). Breguet is a great choice / value

I might be biased, but the 5070, specially the J, has always been a dream.

I finally managed to get one and couldnt be happier
