Rolex CPO Purchase
Hello,
Everyone knows that Rolex models in CPO program are more expensive then on the grey market. My question is that can I get a discount on Rolex CPO program? Also can someone tell me from their experience how hard is to get Air king or Explorer I 40mm on retail? Are they availability for walk in costumers with purchase history?

You can ask a retailer for a discount any time. I doubt they will give you one on a CPO watch, especially a desirable modern watch. Air Kings and Explorer I's are currently selling on the secondary market for around retail plus tax if you shop around. You can always go into a retailer and ask and you may get lucky but I doubt it. If you really want the watch look at our Trusted Sellers, find the watch you want, call up and have a discussion and make a reasonable offer. Pay and have the watch tomorrow by lunch. For these two models there is no reason to spend a lot of time shopping in AD's as the money savings is not there. Good luck.

If you buy from a trusted seller you don’t have to pay delusional CPO prices

I doubt you’d get a discount, but it never hurts to ask …
Good luck |

If you don't ask you don't get. You probably still won't get but it never hurts to ask.

I have tried and having a very good purchase history was told no. But I’m going to try again, probably tomorrow if the watch I want is still in the case.

Discounts on Rolex CPO watches are highly unlikely, as prices are set by Rolex to maintain exclusivity.
The Air-King and Explorer I 40mm are popular but not as hard to get as models like the Daytona or GMT-Master II. With purchase history at an AD, you may have a better chance of securing one, though walk-in availability is rare. Building a relationship with your AD can help. |

AK and Exp 1 are not considered difficult, but won't be readily available either. You could be offered one with a bit of persistence, patience and some following up (without being annoying). |

I got a slight discount on one of the two that I bought CPO. Both very highly sought after watches but I have a good history with this AD
You get a fully serviced/restored to factory by Rolex watch with a fresh two year warranty and the ability to go back to your local AD if you have an issue or want to trade it. If you aren't paying much or anything over the trusted ( emphasize trusted) grey market dealer prices it’s a good program. It also builds a relationship with an AD because now they can make grey margins that they can’t make on new watches. Just know the market prices and compare apples to apples in terms of c9nditikn, box, papers and warranty b |

I always ask about the CPO programs, the prices vary wildly from one store to another. I have seen 40mm Explorers for close to gray market price, and I have seen GMTs for 6K over gray market. It is really a moving target. Lots of Daytona’s on the CPO program, don’t check prices on those as I’m not interested. Bottom line is you have to check each place and know going rates on the gray market to make an educated decision. |

Rolex CPO Purchase
I think with CPO you have to remember that the ADs aren’t necessarily best placed to price up used watches. Yes, lots have always dabbled in pre owned but it’s never been their primary concern - as it’s always been (and still is) a side hustle.
I think this is why we are seeing some, *ahem*, optimistic prices. Probably set by someone who just browses chrono24 and then pulls a number out a magic hat. Plus an extra 10 per cent. They don’t really know the market yet - it takes years to get a feel for it I would imagine. The true used watch dealers - who already pre dated the bubble and covid days are still (in my opinion) best placed to add some much needed competition to the market. Condition is everything in the used market but here in the uk all individual chains seems to price models the same. Eg a 116710 ln at, say, Ł14500 (!) regardless of age. Again in my own opinion it would be incredibly bad for the industry if Rolex ever de facto became the only major player in the used market. A bit like Porsche. Their prices are nuts across the range to the extent that a used cayman or boxster is ridiculous for what it is. So the internet is your friend. It makes shopping around easy and in my opinion the prices you see at most adverts are the absolute upper end. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I was at one of the Bucherer's in NYC yesterday, and saw a few of their CPO Rolexes. The one my spouse liked was a 116034 with a diamond dial at $10,250. Add 8.875% sales tax ($910), and it would cost $11,160. We passed on it. I think we can do a lot better if we shop used gray market. The CPO price was NOT negotiable, as per our salesman. He said that the prices are set by Rolex, not the AD.

CPO prices are negotiable. Bucherer, however, is owned by Rolex. Are they truly representative of “authorized dealers” generally? Because they are corporate-owned perhaps they cannot negotiate on Rolex CPO. Other ADs can… |

If prices are set by Rolex why are they different at different ADs within the same country? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The CPO is a way for a customer to stay within the AD Ecosystem.
Some will decide to go preowned through the gray market and others like myself accept the (significant to grey market) markup. The way I look at it, if I decide to give a watch to my children one day, and it needs a service, I would not be best pleased to learn that the watch is franken, stolen or fake. If I purchased it through a grey market, how sure can I be that dealer will be in business to make good their mistake. It’s peace of mind for me |

I've noticed that a few CPO models here and there at the 1916 company aren't too terribly priced compared to the standard grey dealer. Especially for the peace of mind of the Rolex 2-year guarantee.
