tell me i'm not crazy
Folks,
Been a while since posting here! I mostly hang on WUS, but I remembered that RF has a Panerai forum! So I'm thinking of buying a Panerai tomorrow, and as I have small wrists (they measure between 6.25" and 6.5") I'm gravitating toward the PAM00048. I love it! I can also get 20 percent off at my local AD, which I understand is pretty good. They also have a PAM00282 which catches my eye as well, but I don't like the blue leather strap (a little too feminine/"experimental" for my tastes) and I have my doubts about titanium (scratching seems easier, harder to restore finish, etc. etc.) But -- it's neat! With a brown or reddish-brown start I can see it looking REALLY cool! What do you guys & gals think? I can get 20 points off of either model. I may try on some of the 44mms tomorrow, but am 95% sure I will feel they are too big for me. I love the look/feel of the 40mm models on my wrist. Any and all advice would be MUCH appreciated! THANKS!!! |

Yeah, I agree with you.
There is big, and then there is too big and unbalanced. Call it sexist, but its ok when a lady wears an oversized watch but it doesn't look right when a guy wears something outsized.

You are doing the right thing by trying them on. Panerai watches are supposed to be big -but too big looks weird. I just recently bought a 210 and has the opportunity to try o. A 249. 2mm looked like a huge difference on my wrist. Still have to say though, the Pannies will always wear a little bigger than Rolex (only exception would be dssd).

I you buy a 40 mm Panerai buy it online and ideally used. The 40 mm while a nice watch has a horrid resale value. Let someone else get hit by that initial depreciation. I have 6.8 in wrists and can manage a 44 mm but with your size I really think you will have to go with the 40 mm. Congrats, enjoy and when you get it POST SOME PICS!!! We wanna see :)

I am going in tot he AD in a bit -- will be buying new and local, it's how I wanna go for this one. Still can't decide between 48 and 282. I see the 282 with blue dial looking really really nice with a brown strap, but will I get sick of it? ANd I can't figure out if I'd like titanium, I tend to do stainless. AH DECISIONS DECISIONS!!!!

CONGRATS!! My money is on you sizing up to 44mm in the not too distant future though.

get a 44mm i have a 6 1/2 wrist as well, and have a pam 88. You may regret not buying the 44mm and you get used to the size! Good luck!

I have like you pretty small wrists (around 6.8 inches) I have a 44mm Pam88 and a 40mm 119, too be honest the 40mm gets the most wear becuase it simply feels better on the wrist size wise.
I am after a 40mm 121 Chrono, i was after a 72 but having tried on a 44mm Daylight it just didn't seem right. So it is 40mm all the way for me! |

6.5 inch wrist here at the bones (haha), slightly less on actual wrist. 44mm Pam 88 fits well with OEM strap on second hole. Looks awesome on my scrawny wrist
