Need advice on a Ladies Rolex - gift for my wife...

Any experts here on Ladies' Rolexes?

Need advice on models...

Looking for something in a stainless steel. No diamonds, NO ROMAN NUMERALS. Excellent pre-owned is A-OK

My wife has very small wrists. As an indicator, her wedding ring is a size 3.25!

I am also looking for a good forum seller / other non-AD source. Most of the reliable sellers I see have the occasional Ladies mode / and thats it.

Thanks! Anniversary coming up next month...but XMAS is also a possibility.

Bill, I'd recommend taking her to an AD to try various models. It's always best to let her decide. Once you know what she wants, contact our great dealers here and see if they can locate it and provide the savings.

Good advice. Slight problem tho. She would rather I not drop Rolex-level cash on her gift. If I surprised her knowing her parameters above, I might do OK. She knows I buy pre-owned watches for myself and is comfy with the idea.

I did ok buying her engagement ring - with no consultation. Got her a Tiffany solitaire so I couldn't lose...hoping that I can do likewise with a watch.

At any rate, if you could suggest models to consider, that would be cool...

I think women - like yourself - look good with Men's Rolexes...but with her tiny wrists...no way.

Yeah Bill, I agree with Karis. I know you want to suprise your wife. However, it sucks if it's not exactly your wife's cup of tea. She'll probably not tell you that she does not like it and will also feel obligated to wear it. Unless you by it from the AD which is refundable, I would definately have her see and try on the watch with such an expensive purchase. Good luck buddy!

Hmmm, any chance you could 'trick' her into going to an AD under the pretense that you want to check out some watches to get her opinion? You could steer her to the ladies models and see what she likes.... If she has small wrists and her other watches are small, then I'd think a ladies DJ would fit the bill best....but again, there are decisions to be made as far as bezel, dial, markers, bracelet.....etc!

That's an idea Karis...I like it. She's pretty immune to most tricks, but maybe just to get her opinion on models. Maybe I make her accompany into an AD by telling her I am browsing for myself...then steer her the the ladies end of the counter.

Here's what the old Oyster Precision looked on my wife (before I had all the removable links taken out, and then it just fit.) Her 29mm DateJust was sized correct out of the box.

If you let the AD sales person know ahead of time your intention to suprise her, the sales person can ask all the right questions for you to find out what she likes. That way it will seem like the sales person is just doing their job and won't arouse and suspicion.

I love my stainless steel/platinum Yachtmaster (my avatar). I have the ladies' size (29 mm) but it is actually a pretty substantial-looking watch because it has the sports bezel. I am 5'8" and it does not look small on my wrist at all. Even the mid-size YM (35mm) looks too large on me.

I got my wife the 31mm datejust (SS with fluted bezel) and she's pretty tiny. Looks great! I would think you wouldn't go wrong with that!

Hey Bill. Have you considered an Explorer 1 for her? I know it's 36mm, but for some reason these look great on small wrists.

There are some pre-loved for sale at pretty reasonable prices.

Will look into the Datejust. Need to make sure there are versions w/out Roman Numerals.

I recently purchased this 1978 Lady OP Date from a reputable local jeweler. It came with the box, booklets, hangtags, and a warranty for about 1/3 the price of a new watch from the AD. This watch now gets the most wrist time. You really can't go wrong with the classic jubilee bracelet and stick markers.

Like some posters have said, the best thing to do is trick her into telling you which one she likes. I personally don't care for roman numerals that much myself but my wife likes them so who am I to argue since it's her watch? Btw, our anniversary is coming up next month as well. I have not given this watch to her yet.
