need help

I was given this watch by my Father today and he told me was all original etc, but not having extensive knowledge on older rolex's i cant say.
He says its a 1969 model...
Question, is that the original dial? bezel?

It looks original to me , but one of our forum leaders should be able to give you some insight on it, tools, riki ,oscar or JJ can weigh in on this one.....

First, welcome to the FORUM!

If you are able, remove the bracelet (if not experienced take it to a jeweler). The serial number is located at the 6 o'clock position and the model number at the 12 o'clock. The watch looks in EXCELLENT condition, congratulations!

If it was a 1969, it may be a 1601 model but by looking at the bracelet, it may be a newer version (70's). I believe the late 60's had folded bracelets, but I could be wrong.

Again, the condition is superb!

If your father has had the watch since 1969, it is almost certain to be authentic. It looks real to my untrained eye, and I love the dial color.

Welcome to TRF!

I've never seen a dial like that, but I believe the engine-turned bezel was available in 1969.

Back in the day there were pages of colored dials you could get from Rolex next time I'm at one of my ad's I'll get some of his old dial books and scan some pages. This dealer was the first Rolex dealer in the state of florida they"re celebrating their 105 year in business. They have seen alot in the way of Rolex Rikki

That would be fantastic...I'm not into making changes to something that is original and love the watch, just want to truly know what i have and be able to talk about it without looking like an idiot.
ill see if i can check that serial number by the weekend and will be eager to see those scans of the dial options..
thank you everybody
