How to Manually Wind a Vintage Submariner?
I hate to ask this newbie-ish question, but my search didn't turn up the information I need.
How do I manually wind my 16800? Does it feel like it's actually winding (that is, a slight clicking)? And, is it the same technique for my wife's 1978 DJ? Thanks! |

The same as any other Rolex a full manual wind just clockwise around 40 crown turns for a full wind. There should be very little resistance but when fully wound you may feel it winding a bit coarser you cannot overwind.

Okay, thanks - I was just a little unsure about what position I had to pull the crown out to, and whether or not it there would be any resistance felt while I was winding. Apparently, from what I did find during my search, there is no danger of overwinding, correct?

You can not over wind your watch, however if there is a lot of resistance when winding, it may be a sign that your Sub is in need of a service.
