I live in Orlando and read about this in the news paper this morning. I always notice peoples watches, especially when its a Rolex. I see a lot of Subs but have never seen a President. It makes me sick to think there are people out there just watching so they can rob you.

Very common in Mexico City where I lived before moving to the States. I was robbed twice at gunpoint; once for an Oysterquartz in SS with white dial and roman numerals and the second time for a Bulgari Diagono Aluminum. Since then, I am always quite paranoid when I see people checking out my watches.

If I remember right, I think the boxing promoter "Don King" was mugged in Mexico City for his Presidential Rolex some time back.

Pretty sad, and scary at the same time. I had a President a few years ago. I was almost robbed at a convenience mart when I was filling up with gasoline. I was, admittedly, wearing the watch with a t-shirt and jeans, so it stood out a bit. Fortunately, the clerk inside saw the 2 men approaching me, and when one of them said something to me, from about 10 feet away, the clerk came outside and they ran. It actually happened again several months later. I traded the watch a few months later, and don't regret it. It is a nice watch, though. I'll take steel and gold any day of the week over a solid gold.

Really? Too bad he wasn't robbed for lot more. The robbing he's done to Ali, Holmes, and mostly Tyson, he deserves alot more than getting robbed for a watch.

The sad thing is there was recent talks of a Tyson comeback, which he dismissed the next day, but most disturbing was a pic of the 2 of them, smiling and shaking hands.

Sorry to mini-hijack this thread.

Excellent advice from both of you. I have adopted both of these philosophies for some 20 years or so.

Funnily enough, was playing poker last night with my brother at the casino and my brother said, "you going to insure that thing?" I replied "Havent got round to it yet" next thing you know 2 of the older blokes at the table started staring at my watch for a good half hour, pissed me off a little... One of them shook his head... I laughed inside. Kept on playing. I am 28, the older blokes probably thought I was wearing daddys watch... LOL

THIS, I carry everywhere I go legally of course. There are no guarantee that you wont get hurt or killed even if you give them what they want, watch, wallet or car etc. I view anyone trying to take something from me by force as a lethal threat to my and my loved ones, and they will be dealt with accordingly.

Sad that people would rather rob and kill other for what they want instead of working and EARNING what they want. Very sad indeed.
