Rolex Books/Magazines

In an effort to take this hobby to the next level I'd like to learn more about timepieces. Mostly the history of the companies and the different watch models/movements.

Can anyone recommend good books or magazine subscriptions specific to Rolex and/or Patek Philippe? Good sources to find them would be helpful as well.

Watchtime is the only magazine I will occasionally pick up and the only Rolex book I have left is Vintage Rolex Sport Watches, nice and think and full of pics and info.

Watchtime can usually be found at you local large chain book store.

You can pick up a copy of ROLEX SUBMARINER STORY by Franca and Guido Mondani.

Only about $500-600 in hardback. A bargain. ;-)

This is probably the best single sourcebook for all things Rolex, including the company's history:-

Isn't this book pretty out of date?

The last revision was June 2006 so it'll not feature the new ceramic models, DJs, the Deepsea and the reissued Milgauss. So in that sense, yes, it's a bit out of date. Still, for anyone looking for a comprehensive history of the brand, I think it's worth checking out.

PS I've not seen that Mondani book before - but it sure looks interesting...and expensive!!

Here is a Flash site where you can flip through some pages. Fricking amazing IMO...but man $550 used on eBay / closer to $600 new shipped from UK or Italy...

You're right - looks amazing! Thanks for the links! (though at that price, I'd have to think long and hard about ordering...)
