1994 Sub Non Date... Good Value? (UK)

Hi Guys

A little advice if I may..

I am looking to purchase a sub non date non COSC to put on a nato strap. I visited a shop in the jewellery quarter in Birmingham earlier this week, and they had 2 in stock, a 2005 non date non COSC boxed with papers for £2300 and one I particularly liked the look of, a mint 1994 non COSC with no papers for £2000.

Are these decent prices? £2000 is my ceiling price I just didnt want to pull the trigger and then find out id paid over the odds.

Thanks Guys

James

That's about $3,325 USD, if it has been recently serviced that is a Fair price, if not then I would pass. If that is their first offer, I would haggle with them a bit more!

I hear that Subs are hard to come by in the UK...

I might haggle on the 1994 model...but if that's the going price at a Dealer, I'd jump on it..

Boxes and papers aren't worth anything extra on such a new piece unless you intend to collect it for a few decades and hope...

James,
Take great care in the Jewellery quarter.
A few weeks ago I went there to look at Mondaine watches and had a general browse around. I was on the main street near the grave yard and came across a shop selling pre owned Rolex. They had quite a big stock in the window and in the counter inside.
I went in to look at a pre owned GMT 11 black and red. The watch head was younger than 2003 as it had no lug holes and was fairly good although it did not have a genuine bezel insert but the bracelet had the most worn Oyster links that I have ever seen. Very much older and a Sub bracelet too. Massive gaps every where. The bracelet had been polished until you could hardly see the crown on the clasp. The bracelet spring bar stuck out of the clasp holes by about 2mm on each side. The price was very hefty as well.
Before we werer married 23 years ago we went to buy our wedding rings from that area only to be ripped off by a guy who said that our rings weighed much heavier than they really were. We bought the rings on the price per weight of gold at the time.
Buyer beware in that area.

Peter

I recently bought a z serial witrh all papers for $3,200 from a trusted forum member.

That's high I think. Bought my T-serial 14060 (1996) for $2800.

Cheers

My first Rolex was a 14060 from 1994. I still have it. BNIB from an AD.

$3,000 for a 14060 of 90's vintage would be a decent price in the US, these days.

There was an update/change of movement between the two watches you are looking at. The 1994 still had the Calibre 3000, while the the 2005 probably had a Cal 3130. Those that are more knowledgeable here can comment on any differences between these movements.
