There was a point and time when I was really new to Rolex that I saw the Daytona in a different light. I wouldn't call myself a hater, just thought that it wasnt for me. UNTILL I SAW ONE UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL... omg

However whats with the notion that any negative comments may be linked to jealousy or envy?? this is why Rolex on a lot of other forums has a bit of a bad rep. |

I've liked the pictures, but in person it didn't do anything for me.

Is it "overpriced" in stainless steel... well yes. In stainless steel the Daytona will cost you almost twice as much as a Sub. In all gold the prices of these watches are within 10% of each other.
So a SS Daytona is not the value for money Rolex proposition... me I don't care, I still want one. |

I like SS Daytonas and wanted one for years. I thought they were worth it in the $7K area but after waiting so darn long and never getting a call they are now $10K and personally don't think it's worth it. I got a Speedmaster Pro Moon instead and am happy.

I'm glad someone else did this because I've been considering this very option. I really want a chrono for certain occasions but I just can't get on board with $10k+ for a Daytona. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to have one, but not at current prices.

I don't get it and why does it matter anyway? Would any self-respecting person express "hate" for a watch out of jealousy? I doubt it and if they did why would anyone give their view credence by listening to them anyway. Personally, I only like SS divers. If I had the money for a Daytona, I'd buy a DSSD and go on a long dive holiday somewhere. It doesn't bother me that someone somewhere might hate dive watches and I don't hate the Daytona, I just have no interest in chronographs. If you have one, congratulations and enjoy it in good health. If you hate them, buy something else. Simple. As Nairn1980 said, it's horses for courses.

I wouldn't say I hate it but it aint for me. I bought 1 but sold it within few weeks as I felt it was too small. I replaced it with a gmt IIc and have no regrets.

I, personally, am not fond of the Daytona. It has a cluttered dial and is too big.
However, I don't hate the watch nor those who love it. Different strokes for different folks! |

I appreciate fine engineering whether its cars, watches, planes or houses. As long as someone/company puts together a product that is complicated but reliable; kudos to you and it should be valued at a premium.

I don't see much hating, just people who either like or don't. What's the problem? To the OP, who cares what someone thinks about your watch?
The biggest issue I have with the Daytona is the cost. I've looked at a few at an AD (non-SS models) and I can see the appeal. They are beautiful and I'd love to get one someday. I just don't know when, because I can get 2 or 3 other watches for the price of one Daytona. |

I have two of the most sought after watches made by Rolex (imho) and I like them both. Both have incredible history and the "grail" factor. I am proud to own them. See my signature for the ones I am talking about..
Daytona haters?? Where? May be they prefer others over it but I dont think they hate it. Peace!!

i am new to a SS daytona... i cannot speak on behalf of everyone but i will say when posting about my new purchase, i felt i was being attacked for no reason... just drama..
before i had this watch, i never gave it any thought to hate anyone over anything.. i decided i wanted the watch, so 2 days later i had one on my wrist. I think if anyone wants anything bad enough, they can pull a couple hours aside, go to rolex.com get every number to every ad in their area and call em.. if no luck then start calling out of state.. you will save tax that way. if you call 50 ad's, one is bound to have one they will sell... thats exactly how i got mine. i just started calling... got alot of laughs, but i didnt care, i just kept trying. |

I have a love/hate relationship with my Daytona. I love the beauty of the dial and its rarity, but I hate the lack of contrast and difficulty I have reading it.
I also think it is becoming a girl's watch, which isn't all that bad.

I dislike it because it's too small and retardedly designed so as not to have a date window. |

You could merely have said that it is rather small (really??) and has no date window.

such a sexy watch... I personally dont think it has ANYTHING to do with price, at least not for me. I will own one someday... need to get my GMT first of course. Like I said before, I hated them at first glance, but after closer inspection appreciate them. Someday... I will have a WG Daytona
