Same here Joey

Also, great to read about your positive transactions with our trusted sellers here.

I too would trust them without any doubt whatsoever

Just finished reading the whole thread. Really glad it worked out for you. It just made me realize that I should be following up on my old similar problem where I also lost a piece. I only blame my self (for now) for not following up on it.

I hope I get lucky to.

phew!! 2 hours to read the whole thing. glad there was a happy ending. Lucky for Joey that the crook was an idiot to use his own personal detail. The fact that law enforcement will not prosecute a case like this is pretty disappointing as it only emboldens crooks. What stops Hayes from now refining his craft and going after others?

Sad. I do applaud your relentless intensity in getting this prefect resolution. I'm also completely floored by the number of members that quickly came to your aid. Those 2 factors should hopefully give some rogues pause before trying to mess with anyone on TRF.

What a community! God bless you all.

It's unfortunate that people like that only make it difficult for new sellers to ever get started. I'm looking to buy a GMT coke and was willing to give a new seller a chance. After reading this... no way. Not unless he/she is willing to go with me to an AD for authentication. Even then....

And hopefully the Mods will also jump in on your poorly disguised bad language.

I went back this morning and looked at parts of this thread. Seeing this photo again reminded me of how happy I was to see the watches returned. If I ever get the bug to sell one of them, I'll look here and remind myself of the history behind them. Both will be passed on to my kids. (In fact, the DJ has been "appropriated" by my oldest, who borrowed it briefly eight months ago and wears it daily.

You should have been thru an Escrow service. Oh well, too late for that, but I do hope you are able to recover your funds. I THINK this can be classified as wire fraud on his behalf.

Wow, I just gave this thread an entire read (understanding it's a year old). I can't believe the unity here at TRF as if a family. What a truly good story as there is such a small percentage of these scams actually resolved.

Makes me want to buy a rolex just to join such a stand-up community!

Great story and happy holidays!

Ok - getting comfortable to read the entire thread.

I had a similar experience on Amazon earlier this year - before I met Steve M, DavidSW and a number of great sellers here.

I saw a SS Daytona on Amazon.com by a preferred seller and payment was direct through amazon - so I figured what was the harm to buy from Amazon.
Then I contaced amazon about their policy ( buyer protection) for liability of I bought a fake watch - max coverage was $2500. Amex said no worries you're covered.

Then I noticed the pics from the amazon seller were the identical pics from a TRF seller except no books and papers from Amazon but a complete set on TRF.

I emailed Amazon that the seller was selling a watch he did not have in his possession and got a canned answer telling me to direct my question to the seller.

I emailed the seller to explain this and never heard from him again.

Then I bought and sold 5 watches here with ease.

Buy the seller not the watch. Glad it worked out.

WOW. i just read all 27 pages of this thread. your story is enlightening. i am sorry for all your ordeal but now that it is long said and done - many people will learn from your experience. hopefully people that would have been scammed will come across this thread and will gain the knowledge to purchase with confidence. TRF is a great place and i feel like i have learned something new everytime i log in.

I am so happy I read this thread. One would have to be a fool to try to scam on here after seeing the swift, mighty response of the Rolex Mafia.

Thank you all for sharing this very interesting, scary, and valuable story. Wow. Having just been taken for 20 grand in another type of scam I sympathize with the frustration of civil vs. criminal action in cases like this. Its very frustrating that people can pull these things off and not go to jail, while our jails are full of people who in my opinion are guilty of far less serious offenses. I'm very thankful to be on this forum with all the valuable resources here.
