I think I found a fake Sub

http://cgi.ebay.it/SUBMARINER-NO-DAT...item4cecba9358

The crown caught my eye, I read (on the Rolex Report) the crown has three dots on the Subs.
What do you think?

If it is a fake, they got the perl perfect.

The pearl does not look good to me. the level of the pearl is somewhat low. I have my SD and Sub with me now and both pearls filled the space more than pictured.

the dial is good, the case looks good from what I can see in the limiting pics. The crown IS odd, missing the triplock dots and the teeth are too soft, also the bottom of the coronet on the crown is shaped incorrectly, too 'D' like. Bezel insert print is too thick looking, and the pearl could be an aftermarket sapphire one, as good aftermarket pearls DO exist, not just gloopy luminous paste. The bracelet has rough fitting end links, could be aftermarket as well. I believe this is a refurb with lots of NON genuine parts, even the base of the hands look like they were unprofessionally removed and re-installed. The pics are not the greatest so it IS hard to tell. I think the case, bezel ring, and dial are genuine, hands could be as well. Need MORE pics

Here's to hoping it doesnt contain an ETA 2824

Thank you steve for taking the time to give me some education. I am always willing to learn and I do not think I have CRS.

Look closely at the crown..It has the ... under the crown. The shine obscures it a little.

I have come to the conclusion this Sub is a authentic case with lots of aftermarket parts which I would call it a POS.
This is a really good training thread to have so many people identify problems with this watch is good for us that are still learning.

How did you come to that determination? IMO, the watch looks fine, the lighting is crappy, shinny pics make it difficult to see certain areas. Please point out the specific problems with the watch. Saying it's fake is easy but please tell us why.

Never-mind, I just saw Steve's post...But to me I can't see it. It still looks good. I guess I have much to learn.

We are all learning. What caught my eye the winding Crown does not have the three dots under it and the conclusion was that is is a Sub but with a lot of aftermarket parts. If someone is not educated on Rolex they will get a Sub in need of a lot of work to get it back to OME specifications. To me this is a dressed up Sub in after market parts to keep the cost down to repair it and sell it like a OME sub.

Regards

David

The dots are there. It's a crappy picture and confusing reflections, but if you look closely, the dots are there.

The watch is genuine and the dots are there on the winding crown indicating it is a triplock. Look at the pictures again, the three dots are there. I see nothing indicating a fake by the pics. The pearl is perfect, dial, bezel and winding crown are all good.

I can see the dots and I have compared it to my 14060M.

I can't say I see any problems with that one but the pix are not good at all and with zero feedback I would want to hold that one in my hand prior to purchase.

See that now that is why I asked questions. The only way to learn is to ask questions for the future. Thanks everyone.
