I am more into the sporty models myself but think the SS with WG bezel and white face looks ever so cool now its size is 41mm. Next buy, is it Explorer 2 (white) or DJ2 (white) Help ! !

Spuds, you make some good points, and have a concern for future value. However, from my perspective, in the story you posted in this thread, it seems as though the watches will hold far more sentimental value to your sons in the long run. Much more than the monetary value, IMHO.

Sure, you don't want the watches to devalue to 'nothing' but even if they do, their history will have more meaning and hopefully hold fond memories for your boys.

The one of the good things about Rolex DJ and DD ranges is that there are many dial options, and I'm sure DJII and DDII will have more dial options in the years to come.

As for not being balanced, I totally disagree! The baton at 9 ocolock balances the white date window at the 3 oclock position. Imo I though Rolex has been pretty thoughtful about this "design" and making it an unique feature.... Not everyone's cup of tea, but it us def mine.

I'm sure one day you will find a DJII dial you fancy.... one day.
