Did all 3135 mvts in Stainless Steel
come out with 904L grade steel. My AD mentioned that some of the Date models still used 316L OR 304L until 1990. Anyone have any catgalogues or official literature on when 904L steel was used in all steel models

Like many ADs have little knowledge about the products they sell. Now the first model Sub ref 168000 cal 3135 were made for around 6-9 months only, thus making it the rarest modern day Rolex They started to use the 904L steel for the case, and the 168000 was made with 9 million to R-serials only, and from mid 1988 until very early 1989.Then after the present day ref 16610 in 1989 Cal 3135 with the 904L SS. .But there is no real advantage over the 316L or 904L except the 904L has slightly more corrosive resistant, and most watches today dont see a lot of corrosive substance. And since 1989 the only difference between any sub or most any other Rolex model is 904L SS, now non lug hole case, SEL bracelet, LEC and a few minor font details, plus different case date stamps. And Rolex before used 316L never 304L,now 99.99% of the worlds watch industry still uses the industry norm 316L.

I believe we have been down that road a couple times before, padi56 is absolutely right , no real advantage unless you think your going to dive in an environment composed of about 50% of sulfuric acid ...

That is probably why nobody WALKS around in LA . This reminds me what happened to my late grandmother when she came to visit us when we lived in Bel Air in the mid '80s , she decided one morning to go for a walk and was picked up and driven back home by the local private security patrol car . They found it suspicious that a person was WALKING in the neighborhood . Only in LA I guess . Still enjoy going back once and a while !
