Do you know my Rolex
I've been told that my Sea Dweller should have a rolex trademark etched on the crystal right over the 6'o clock. I've looked at a friends daytona and he does have one. My Y-series sea dweller does not. Is this normal or has the crystal been replaced ~ I bought it used.
Looking for your expertise..... Thx |

A Y series will probably have the etched crown. But it's very difficult to see. You need to have the light just right and it helps to have something like a 10x loupe. Took me 3 years to find mine on my Y series GMT. Good luck with the search.

It should be there, and if the crystal is replaced it should still be there.
Took me forever to find it but this is by far the best tip I have heard. Get one of those superwhite led keychain flashlights. They can be bought these days at the dollar store. Hold it right up to the crystal at an angle and tilt the watch away from you. It usually does the trick. Mark |

Go in a dark room and shine a flashlight from the 6 o'clock position to noon. (shine through the elevated part of the crystal where it extends above the bezel.) You will find it. If your friends is too obvious, he might have a problem.

Hi DB,
Welcome to TRF. Important question here should be....does your SD have the lug holes or not. If not, then the etching should be postiively there. Second question: Is it an early Y-series or a late one? So if we can have the first 3 numbers of your serial numbers after the Y, that is important. Some of the early Y-series did not have the etching yet. JJ

That Canuck Chinaman has an SD with a wimpy little date window. He thinks he's a smarta$$ because he found the etched crown.
