The Rolex Experience: The Authenticity Experts (Part III)
The Rolex Experience: The Authenticity Experts (Part III)
This is part III of The Rolex Experience. Please read part I and II here before continuing: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=109294 http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=109730 What do we have here? Could this be a letter from Rolex Service Center Dallas expressing they are not correct in there assessment? Nope.. It was a letter thanking me for bringing my concerns to their attention. The service manager included a couple of correct spring bars to replace the incorrect one that was installed by Rolex personnel. This was a very nice gesture and deeply appreciated. Still after a bracelet.. Until then, I may just have to sport a Nato. JJ, if you do not like it, have a talk with Rolex. It is their fault I had to stoop to such drastic measures lol… This watch was stored unworn and unwound for 15years after being service from Rolex. It has been running for 13 days and has lost about 50 seconds. Not to bad. I have been told I should have it serviced even though it looks and runs great to keep it from doing damage to the internals. |

I'll agree that from that angle the bezel could be seen as "suspect" as it isn't like the modern replacements with the deep grooves.
Here's a shot of 3 different bezels. A 1968 is in the middle, a modern replacemen on the top and a 1980's on the bottom. None have grooves like your's. Of course, it could just be well worn. |

Thanks for posting the follow up, sorry that it didn't work out better.
There are other respective sellers for original bands out there if you decide. Please be sure to keep us posted. |

Thanks a bunch for the photo comparison John. I thought maybe the one on my father’s watch was polished?? However your 68 in the middle is showing the groves much deeper and almost to the bottom which is way deeper than my fathers. Thanks again for the help. BTW, Your 68 that is in the middle; the crown guard looks different. Any idea why? Thanks again. |
