Why does it have to be fake? If I sold either of my watches on ebay, my ebay account only has 4 feedback remarks (all over 3-4 years old). Does that mean I stole the photos or that my Rolex is fake?
His profile says that he joined in Nov 2009. Not sure that makes the guy a fraud. Although, I could be wrong. |

This is a new user with only 2 feedbacks. Most of the scammers have very few feedbacks. Not everyone is a scammer, and you raise a good point. I would be hesitant to do business with this user for that one reason. This doesn't mean it's a knockoff, but what's to say it's not a bogus account? If they use stolen Visa gift cards to buy two little items, and happen to get feedbacks, and the user will burn this account to sell 1 watch he doesn't own for $8k. I would prefer a user with more feedback myself. As for the watch, and pictures ???

Hey Paul! No, I agree with you. Just making a point that low feedback and a new user does not always make for a scammer. I thought the pictures looked legit to me. I think most image software lets you add a watermark.
In the end I agree...I would not buy from this person unless he sent more pics and was willing to meet at a local Rolex or watchmakers store. Jim |

That's an excellent point Jim and I spend a lot of time thinking about that issue. If you want to get into the watch selling business on ebay, how do you start? I thinks it's extremely important to develop references, especially with folks on forums like these. We see day to day first time buyers seeking advice about items and sellers on the bay. My problem with this auction is not whether or not the watch is real or not. I am quite sure it is. My problem is that the pictures almost seem too good and it makes me wonder about the legitimacy of the auction. The guys here, especially DAVE, know every rolex photo on the web (practically) and can spot a stolen one and can possible save someone from a very difficult loss. MY TWO CENTS!!

The guy could be legit with a couple borrowed pictures. People with low feedback have a difficult time selling items like this Daytona. I recently purchased a like new M series Daytona from a guy with zero feedback and got a great deal on it. I did a face to face transaction because he couldn't get any bidders in that price range with no feedback. You just need to proceed with extreme caution with an auction like this one.
