Buying a Rolex from ebay/abroad

Hi people, I was looking for a little bit of advice, Im thinking about buying a Rolex from the US, The watch would come from ebay, Im happy the watch is real and the seller is genuine but Im concerned about customs charges, does anyone know how likely I would have to pay, and also a rough of idea of cost on a Subamariner around the $3500 mark. many thanks

Hi there, I own an online retail company in Australia - I occasionally sell items to buyers from the UK and I can tell you that the customs charges and duties in the UK are some the worst I have encountered. I can't tell you exactly how much you are likely to pay on this item, as the products I sell generally go for $AUD150-$AUD300, but you will get slugged very hard. do plenty of research on how much you are liable to pay. In Australia we generally would be charged $500+ in duties and taxes on a $3500 watch.

That's a ricky business, if they tax you, it's gonna hurt.

It's tough to extract a gentlemen's agreement from abroad.

A gentleman's agreement presupposes that there's a gentleman involved.
