Explorer I & II ques...

it seems to me that this model either White or Black face dosen't get the attention or popularity other Rolex get. I like the White Exp. II myself and looking back thru many threads here this is my conclusion.
Am I wrong in thinking this about the Exp. I & II ?
I've seen a few "great" pics of the White Exp. II and it's a beautiful watch!
Thanks

I agree, I love a watch with a white dial and that is why I choose the ExplorerII as my "knock about" watch, my other Rolex is a YG Day Date with of course a white dial.

Just wish the new GMTII-Master came with a white dial option

Both great watches but like everything beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. And thats how it should be, if you like a particular watch and it smiles back at you, thats the watch for you.Myself prefer the white dial in the Explorer 11 but not a huge fan,as I prefer the sub type sort of bezel. And the Explorer some call it the Explorer 1, is one of Rolex longest production runs.

HA! My son sure thought so! I gave him a choice of several watches as an early graduation present from college. Took him about 1 second to grab the white! At least it's still in the family.

I'd buy a white faced Explorer I in a heart beat. Love the dial and hands on the watch pictured above on a I.

The Explorers are great watches. I love the simplicity of the explorer and the white dial available on the II.

How can you be wrong in liking something so beautiful... the white face Explorer II is gorgeous. Also it stands out because it's a pretty unique look. Mine got a lot of attention recently and I noticed later that the other nice watches at the party were mostly dive watches.

I would like to see an Explorer with a white face... I think it'd be beautiful as well.

As in everything, it boils down to personal taste.

A few years ago, after spending a considerable amount of time shopping for a watch, and almost deciding on a SS/Plat Yachtmaster, I saw the EXP II with the white dial, and it was instantly my "gotta have it" watch, and it is still my favorite. It is one of the watches I would never consider parting with.

Neither of the two jewelers in town that I prefer who are Rolex ADs had a white dial EXP II in stock, but both had black dial EXP IIs, and pretty much every other Rolex most anyone might want.

I was told it would be 3-6 months wait for a white dial EXP II, and I decided to hold out for the white dial, and in about 4 months one came in. I never regretted waiting for THE watch I wanted.

I also have come to appreicate the fact that the white dial EXP II is not "immediately" noticable as a Rolex for people who have only a casual knowledge of Rolex. Subs, Datejust watches and also the GMT seem to be what most people identify as the traditional Rolexes. No doubt this is due to the greater popularity of those watches. I am comfortable knowing that my taste might not be what others, or maybe even most others like.

It is, however, nice when from time to time someone compliments my watch, asks what type of watch it is, and then expresses surprise when they learn it is a Rolex.

Ragu....it's so simple, it's staring you smack in the face!! If you really like the white dial Exp-II, go for it!!

Never mind what others have to say. Personally, I too think it's a very elegant under-stated watch. And can be worn with jeans or even a tux!!

That's exactly how I feel. However, I wonder what it would look like on a Nato strap?

sorry can't help you with a pic, but here's my black face on a bond nato strap...

Actually, lemme try adding a negative of the dial face alone. It might give you a rough idea of what the white face Explorer II would look like on this strap.

You know, it doesn't look as nice as the black dial, but not bad!

I've always tried to put bands that matched the face color... for me that's what makes the combo look more coordinated.
