Daytona questions

Thinking of adding a Daytona to my sub but still not certain as to which model. I'd like something a little vintage (but not too expensive), something that's collectable and may have some future value, and something that I would like on my wirst (like 50 / 50 wrist time with my sub).

I am looking at a TT black dial Daytona model #16523 (serial #A109xxx) in near mint - excellent condition (looks like it has had minimal wrist time and has been recently serviced by rolex).

I know that a TT Daytona may not be a choice of many on this forum and although I am a fan of TT I am not yet convinced that I want a TT Daytona.

My questions (not knowing much about non-current models) are:
1. The movement on this model (and pluses and minuses on the movement)
2. Current value range as described (no pics at this time)
3. Collectability and future value potential (compared to a current SS model)

Thanks!

that has the zenith movement. current value range is 6-7t usd. future value potential, you can't compare that to a ss daytona.. ss holds its value best..In fact, in the pre owned market the ss is more expensive than the tt..

I think you would want to get an SS Daytona zenith movement if you want to retain value. The prices have come down since couple years ago and now is the time to buy one if you want to get one. They're gonna be collectible in the future. In the past, I've seen them in the $16k range but nowadays, you can find one around $10k. The TT IMHO don't hold much value at all and I don't see them appreciating in value in the future either. If you want to get a TT, a suggestion would the white dial YM or the Sub. You can find those at reasonable prices now.

Definitely skip the TT, I've seend them sell for as low as the mid 5s elsewhere. People just don't seem to be going after them much. The SS is the best for value retention, the zenith movement comes up every once in a while under the 10K mark, you should grab one.

this is "A" 1999 model, it has SEL , the previous year model did not have that.

"A" & "P" has SEL that used ZENITH movement, after that Rolex made their own movements.

Current value is at $6100-$6800 depending on condition and box/paper.

TT DAYTONA is another great value in used Rolex, same watch as SS in every way except it can be bought for less.

I just finished trading this watch because the dial was hard to read at quick glances + I prefer rotating bezel.

Thanks for everyone's comments and for the above Pics.

Looks sharp to me......Different than a SS but to me both the SS and the TT look sharp in their on right. I guess it would be kind of hard to for me to pay 3 to 4K more for the same watch with the only difference being that the less expensive watch has some gold. At around $ 6,000, I would think that it would have to hold it's value pretty well; especially since I haven't seen too many of the TT Daytona Zeniths around (compared to SS models). Am I missing something?

Are there more readable dials available in TT Daytonas from this era?
By the way, what does SEL stand for?
