A quick one, times ticking, Exp 1 price ££ ??

Guys,

Ignoring my recent thread regarding whether to buy a TT DJ or a Exp 1.

I would like to throw up a question, been offered this following and would be very, VERY thankful if anyone could give me an opinion on the following price, should I buy or leave it alone, here goes:

Rolex Explorer 1 (you know the one Kyle!)
1997
fully boxed, papers, additional links
Near mint condition

Price I should pay if I go for this? price is in UK £££ Please someone give me some insight!

Cheers guys

I'm here now. Is it the 14270? Or the 114270?

Kyle,

Don't wanna hang my head out the window here but in my limited wisdom all I know is it's a 1997 version of the Explorer 1.

I'm massively under educated but trying to make the transition from AP and Breiting to Rolex, as stealth as possible!

I'm guesstimating a good price (for you) would be somewhere around the £1800 mark.... I know there's a few advertised at £2,250/£2,500 but they're simply not selling at that so I'd certainly want to get it for less than £2k.
Good luck mate....

Well Converting from USD to Pounds, I would say it should be around 2k - 2.5k, it is an older model, the newer 114270 with box+papers can be held around 3k usd in good condition. So I guess 1306.67 to 1633.34, but I don't know how prices are in the UK.

If you're buying in the UK, these prices would have had VAT (sales tax on top).
You may have to factor another 10% or so, on top...

Yikes, I did not know that. These are pre-owned prices I was talking about, like paying off of TRF or doing a local deal or something.

lol... and it can go higher in other European states.

Actually the VAT in the UK is 17.5%.
But I was thinking that with US sales taxes (being different in each state), that difference is narrower.

So I averaged it at about a 10% difference.

There's half a dozen currently listed on ebay at UK£2.5k Kyle mate but they're simply not fetching those prices.
If you look at the SOLD items they're all less than UK£2k so it's still very much a buyers market in many regards IMO, especially regarding the 'less popular' models.

Do you mean if the (UK based) OP's buying a watch from abroad mate?
If so you're quite correct, but if you mean buying in the UK & living in the UK then VAT will already be included in the listed/agreed price.
(It's not like a tradesman who quotes £x plus VAT for example).
