Chosing between Rolex or Tudor Chronos

I am considering having to part with one of my watches to raise some capital for other desires. Both watches essentially serve the same purpose as they are both chrono's and are about the same age both being from the early 90's. The Rolex was recently acquired from Steve M. here so it has been what I have been wearing recently.
Having to choose between them as a
TT Rolex Daytona with Zenith based 4030 movement
and a
SS Tudor Chrono Big Block with Val 7750 movement
Which one would you consider keeping?

The Tudor is nice, but if I were to get a chrono... the Daytona hands down over all other comers.

Wouldn't that depend on how much money you need to raise?

This depends on how much you need for this "other" desire. And which piece will "yield" the best return for you. If you have the perspective that both pieces essentially fulfill its function (fn), then each piece is of neutral value in of its fn. The one complication does have a date, so it does indeed have one more fn than the other...

Thanks,
Randy

The sale of either I would expect would cover the expenses. I would suspect the Daytona to bring a little extra. The date feature is not that important to me. My wife asks why I have to have six watches (citizen, seiko x2, invicta, tudor and rolex) that all do the same thing. At times I see her point Sadly none of the other would bring the value of either of these two pieces.

Then I would choose the Daytona.
Still trying to answer you wife's, and my wife's question.

Although the S/S Zenith Daytona is very much in demand, I'm not so sure about the TT version. Still, selling it would surely bring in more $ for your other desires....

Personally, I'd keep the Daytona but it all depends on your finances and what those other desires are!

I think I was one of the few who said Tudor, the big block is a great collectors watch and will continue to become more collectable (and it has a date, an issue for me)

Okay the Rolex will make more $ at the moment but for me the Tudor will continue to gain in value

You will always be able to get another Daytona, a big block maybe not.

Each to their own.

Thank you! This was sort of my thinking. Looking at sales over the past couple of years of the Tudor, they have gone up in value. It would be harder to replace and most likely cost more. With the exception of the SS model the daytona is more of a flatline acquisition that I feel I might be able to easily acquire another at a later time and probably for not much more.

However the personal side favors the daytona. I've always wanted one and just got it recently.

The Big Block will continue to appreciate in value & the TT Daytona will not seeing how there isn't much of a demand for them. I would sit on the Tudor & flip the Daytona.

It's the TT finish, not the Zenith movement that is the achilles of his Daytona.

X2
but it would depend on how quickly you need the cash. I would think the big block would sell a little quicker.
