Anything's for sale for the right price

Does anyone here have a mechanical device that they wouldn't sell if the price was right? I can appreciate that family heirlooms such as your great great grandfather's spitoon and things of that nature would be exempt, but aside from that have you developed an emotion attachment to a machine? A car, a watch, a clothes dryer, anything? To me they're all machinery and all can be replaced for the right price.

I'd suppose as long as something is replaceable, I don't mind selling it.
By replaceable I don't mean something like a pet or a kid that you can go out and buy another one, I mean like a TV or a ipod.

If it was a gift from my dead grandpa, then probably not. Other than that I am up for suggestions

If the price was right, just about everything may go.
BUt sometimes if it seems to good to be true....

I have had a few things I "thought" would be sentimental. Sure a bit of remorse soon after sold, but many are long gone & long forgotten.
Still have some "heirloom" type things.
Even my watch collection, someone made me an offer on something I thought I would keep, now I am contemplating the options.

Steve, your Dad's watch falls into the Family Heirloom catagory. Something like that should be handed down through generations.

I was thinking more along the line of watches that were acquired from wherever, cars, sports equipment, anything mechanical that didn't already have a sentimental value.

Been thinking about this one some more.
I have had a couple of things ( not mechanical, but physical objects) that I acquired "just cuz I liked them". No sentimental value at all.
Had a chance to sell one for a significant profit.
Thought about it for a couple of days, once the shock wore off, I kept it.
The $$ would have been nice, but I bought it for a reason, and kept it for the same reason, because it was still being used for that purpose.
Now if it were in a closet, then I would have sold it.
When we were cleaning out my mothers garage after she passed. There was nothing there that I needed/wanted. My sister on the other hand, took just about everything, just "because it was mom or dad's"

I was promised my grandfather's gold Omega by him. It is the watch that got me interested in such things (I was 5 at the time).

When he died ten years later, the watch 'mysteriously' disappeared along with all other items of value. My auntie and cousin, being scum of the earth people, cleared the house out while my mother was at his deathbed in hospital.

They denied all knowledge of it so we were never able to trace the watch.

I would pay a small fortune to have it back but there is little chance of that ever happening.

Same dilema

My Dad had a 14K Gold diamond/nugget ring that I have family videos of him wearing. I contemplated selling it. I look back at the footage and remember how proud he was of the ring on his pinky. I get the selling idea out of my mind. I will wear it when my gold dj is completed. I contemplated selling my PS3. Sometimes things we aquire are a result from lifes precious moments.

I had a 61 Porsche Roadster that grew up with my family. Have pics of the kids in it etc. etc. A friend kept bugging me, pleading , and offering. I wasn't driving it at that point so I let him have it, for a prayer.
Regretted that one ever since.
Bought my DRSD new in mid seventies, that is not for sale. It will be handed down.

Here in the USA everything is for sale if the price is right. Always carry a $100 bill on you for when you just need to change someone's mind real fast and make a buy.

Hey it worked with Long Island, the Louisiana Purchase, and Alaska!
